My chair is an utterly adorable, padded fabric covered, swivel rocker. But someone who is dirty and sweaty has been sitting in it when I am not present. My wife banished it from the living area. I know its feelings were crushed. Can anything be done to get it back with all its furniture friends?

I would try automotive upholstery cleaner. You can get it at WalMart or an auto parts store.

Or a handheld steam cleaner like the attachment on a carpet steam cleaner. Out of curiosity...does it look like Archie Bunker's chair at all?

Spray with carpet cleaner first and scrub it with a scrub brush. Then use a slightly damp rag to go over any remaining spots. You can probably get it looking pretty decent.
You might find a slip cover for it or simply put a sheet over it. Before we could afford nice furniture I had really old stuff covered with throws I made from discount fabric. They still looked pretty good and with young children it was nice to be able to wash them.

No, that chair is so confining and sedentary it scares me. This is a more modern swivel rocker. Something an adult who has had a lifelong problem sitting still would like to sit in.
