Thanks to Craigslist, I will be getting my greenhouse sooner than I had thought. It will still be a while before I have all of the materials to build it, but I now have the glass. Found an ad, a guy had 120 windows for sale. Stationary plate glass windows in aluminum frames. These were out of an office building that had upgraded to (I'm assuming) more energy efficient windows. They all measure 4 foot by 4.5 foot. The glass is 1/4 inch thick, and you can stand on it without it breaking. Good heavy stuff. I bought 30 yesterday, that's all I could fit in my truck. Next weekend I will go back to get 30 more.
Now, get this, $1 each. Deal of a lifetime, one dollar each.

Good buy, my greenhouse will be built from sliding glass doors. Craigslist had 2 for free but they were gone before I got there. I can buy used ones for 45 bucks but free is better.

Have you heard of "thermocubes"? They're thermostatic plug-ins, just $11 on Amazon. They have one that turns on at 35 degrees and off at 45 degrees so you can plug a space heater into it in the spring when your tender seedlings are up. They also have one that turns on at, like, 85 and off at 75 or something like that. You can plug your ventilation fans into them.

Doing fine, DBA. Miss the bunny pictures and miss seeing you post "good morning, everyone!" It is awesome you are gathering the materials for a green house. I used to work in a commercial green house. Sure learned a lot! It's still too early to plant here. We have a frost warning for tonight. Oh, to have a green house! LOL! Maybe someday! But my raised beds are all ready to rock 'n roll. I have my huge pots ready for potatoes and the blueberries and strawberries are waking up and putting out leaves. My gooseberry that I planted last year came back just beautifully and so did the currents. One pear tree is less than happy but still putting out leaves. The little cherry trees I planted made it a second winter now and so did the apricots and plums! Woot!

Good to hear Kasota. Sorry I haven't been over there, last couple times I tried, it wouldn't let me sign in. Otherwise I would like to stop in from time to time. And I have lots of bunnies to take pics of, have had over 40 born in the past three weeks and two more litters on the way.

I'm hoping that when you get this green house up and running you'll show us pics? It sounds really nice.

Thanks, I'm hoping it will be nice, but it will be a while, buying and collecting the pieces and parts little bits at a time.

dba, what are going to use as a floor ?, Iam thinking concrete slab which would be cold, or a gravel floor which would let some warmth from the dirt heat the greenhouse.

Planning on pouring a concrete foundation, but the floor itself will be pea gravel.

So with 60 panes you'll end up with 1080 feet of glass surface. Sounds like it's going to be a pretty big greenhouse. What's your design look like?

It's basically going to be a 24 foot by 30 foot room added on to the west end of my house. The glass will be for that sun room/green house, and then I plan to build a second free standing green house in the back yard, it will be about 16 foot by 20 foot. I will have extras, will be nice to have a few replacements incase of a break.
