I find new moons inspiring
The words for new moon in Hebrew are Rosh chodesh.
Tonight's new moon marks the first day of the month of Sivan. Sivan means 'season; time.' The Jewish months are fixed to the annual seasons by setting the new moon of Aviv, the barley ripening, or spring, as the first moon and head of the year.
On Sivan 4, in 1040 BC, David was born. Next Tuesday will be the beginning of Shavuot, or Feast of Weeks. Shavuot marks the beginning of the wheat harvest.
