Has anybody heard from Ann in Iowa? I was going to contact her directly but I seem to have lost her email--can't find it in my address book. Anyway, with all the flooding in that part of the world, I wondered if she and others of the forum membership were safe.
I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

Hope she's ok. And I'm keeping everyone affected by the flooding in my prayers.

I still haven't found Ann's email address but I did remember the name of the town where she lives. So far, I've found no reference to flooding there so hopefully, she's not directly affected. So many roads/bridges are out that she may have trouble getting from Point A to Point B. I'll keep you posted if I come up with anything else.

The local WX people are forecasting all that flood water up in Iowa, etc., will be in MO in the next couple of days. We're well away from the MO River so in no danger. Actually, the lady who lived in the house just north of us when we moved here, on the same level at the top of a hill, commented once that it would be a flood of biblical proportions before it affected our farms. We might be marooned up here for a while because each of the roads leading to our houses from the "outside world" have low water crossings that flood briefly after heavy rains or bridges with somewhat low approaches. So far, the one bridge hasn't been an issue though I've seen a lot of water going under it.

In addition to the flood waters from the upper Midwest flowing by in the Missouri River, we've had some pretty hefty rains the last several days that will add to problems further downstream in both the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. First it was south of the river but Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, we had FIVE INCHES of rain at our house and that rain came in as "trains" across the middle section of Missouri. We had more storms/rain overnight with another 2 1/4" accumulation. At the eastern edge of our property, maybe 1/4 mile away, is a wet weather creek and this morning, I could hear it crashing along its course. I don't remember too many times that has happened in the 27 years we've been here. There's another larger wet weather creek just across the road that borders our west property line, similar distance from the top of our hill but I couldn't hear it. We've gotten a lot more trees/vegetation but I don't know if it could muffle the sound. I have been able to hear it in years past.
And the WX guys are forecasting more rain for tonight. Yep, there's a reason I won't live on low ground.
