my son found a patch of morrell mushrooms in our back yard...can they be dehydrated, or preserved? he really loves them , he looked like a kid at christmas.

I just did a small batch (one tray )and they came out wonderful . I do other mushrooms all the time and they are easy to rehydrate and use .. I say go for it ....

Cut in half down the middle, rinse, dry, and dehydrate. Option is to also dice if to be used in stews or gravies.

I found if I blanch them I like the finial look of them in my soups and stews .. I have dehydrated them blanching and not blanching and do find they are harder to rehydrate if not blanched .. This is the first time I have done the morels so I don't know how they will be when rehydrated .. but they look great in the jar now... I did not blanch the morels ..just soaked them as usual ..
