It is already raining hard tonight. The forecast is rain until 7pm tomorrow.
I plan on making a homemade breakfast sausage w/ biscuits and gravy for breakfast, a couple of batches of hard cheese, and a batch of fresh strawberry jam.
I really do appreciate and enjoy a break from the strenuous outside work that a rainy day affords.

We've had plenty of chances for rainy day cooking here lately. I keep looking out the door, expecting to see Noah's Ark coming down the road, lol! Usually our rain is long gone by now and we're up into the 100s. Just this week we finally got out of the 60s for a high. I normally appreciate a rainy day too, but enough already! My garden is drowning, and I sink up to my ankles any time I go outside. Rainy days always make me crave soup, stew, chili, or beans. I've cooked all of those in the past few weeks. Right now I'm craving a roast with root vegetables and mushroom gravy, so I may make that tomorrow or the next day. Your breakfast sounds wonderful!

We get lots of rain over here, usually into June. But some days I'm relieved to look out and see that it's more rain than usual. It gives me an excuse to pull out the soup pot and maybe the canner and then I get to stay inside and just cook.
It's not rainy today, but I've got two chickens that we butchered last year simmering on the stove right now. Soon to be two canner loads of soup and stock. Yum. Have to make room for the meat chickens that are half way to butcher day.

I have heard that, Callie :-) I decided to wait until Friday to make the pectin because my sister Melissa has that day off and she is going to come over with her 3 kiddos and we will make it together. She wants to learn how. I told her we will learn together. I am excited to can with her, I think it will be really fun!

Last night I made a strawberry rhubarb pie. It didn't look as full as I wanted it to be before baking it so I threw in blueberries. It turned out wonderful.

We had thunder and lightening last night and a good rain. Got one of my bear meat shares this morning, 4 packages. One nice big roast. I took a smaller package and made chili out on the patio in the big cast iron pot, 2 gallons. Used a lot of mushrooms, 3 big onions and some of those beautiful red peppers from produce day. Can't wait to taste it....James

I've tried a lot of "exotic" foods, not sure why I never got around to bear. It sounds like you and sweetie have a perfect life, at least to me, it's what I dream of. I always love reading your posts.
