I've spent all day looking for my good scissors. I remember using them when I made my skirt last week, but now I can't find them. Normally it's the seam ripper that gets lost, I couldn't tell you how many of those I've bought. But I've never lost my scissors like this. I honestly have no clue where they could be, and of course no one else knows. The good news is that my living room is clean since it was last room I saw them in.

I have a bad track record with tape measures. I have at least 6 in the garage somewhere, but I can't find a single one.

My problem is when I put something in a "special place" so I can be sure to find it when I need it. I must have lots of special places. Oh My;I do this too. It's almost better to leave something in familiar clutter than to Make Sure I can find it next time......ugh!!! he/he thanks for saying this....makes me feel "normal" .........

Found 'em! They were under the couch, toward the back in the middle. I pulled it out to double check and there was the handles peeking out. No clue how they got back there, but just happy to have found them. I bought a sewing box the other day so that's where they're going as soon as I get my new apron cut out. I have all kind of special places where I put important stuff that's never seen again. So y'all are not alone.

I try to keep my scissors in a secure place - mainly to keep them from being used on paper, plastic and other things by my family members, so I rarely lose my scissors (except when they have found & used them). But I'm like the OP on seam rippers, I think I purchase 1-2 a year and still have trouble finding them.

My husband misplaces tools a lot. At one point, a friend of mine bought me a set of basic tools covered in pastel flowers kind of as a joke. That way I'd have a hammer and screwdriver because my husband wouldn't want to use mine- that was my friend's theory anyway. But sure enough...when you can't find your hammer the pretty pastel one works just as good in a pinch...kind of. It's still missing.

For my outdoor gardening tools (hand tools only as I can generally find the rake and hoe and such...)
I spray paint the handles fluorescent orange -- works great and when it eventually comes off, I just re-spray. So far it does not turn my hands or garden gloves orange either. And I can find the hand tools.

My problem is when I put something in a "special place" so I can be sure to find it when I need it. I must have lots of special places. Me, too ! Actually, I've gotten a lot better at having a certain place to keep certain things. because I know I'll forget where that "special place"was. My problem now is that people keep moving my stuff, and of course they "never used it", don't know anything about it", 'haven't seen it". It's amazing how much stuff can disappear around here, and nobody ever knows where it went !

I've been missing a ruler for several weeks. I finally decided to stop at JoAnn's and pick a new one with a coupon but it was the last stop and I was so tired after a long day, I didn't stop.
I went into my sewing room when I got home and there it lay, right on top of the card table. I'm glad I didn't stop and buy one, but now my other ruler is missing!!!
I think I'm just going to go to bed.

Scissors, tape measures, reading glasses and pens are always missing around here. I am a neat freak and everything has a place but I can not keep from losing my stuff. Every once in a while I will go on a hunt for the stuff put it all where I belongs and then it all runs away again!

I do pretty good on the sewing tools b/c my son & husband know they'd be in trouble if caught with them. I have a good basket and nice table. NOW my husband is another matter. I can't tell you how many reading glasses he has and where they are. We got in the truck the other night and he says look in that pocket for my glasses, yes, and he has another pair in his hands!!!

Hidden in plain sight - more like a parallel universe at my house.
Hefty slider zip-lock bags are saving me from this is a big way - keep one for projects so all the little tools go into that as I'm working. I guess we've all had to hide our "good" scissors from paper cutters, found that they stay much nicer zipped up away from dust too. My Ginghers have never been happier.
