Such a fun day to look forward to. I got up very early and got every one in the barn. I spend 2 hours cleaning the barn yesterday. I had all the 'essentials' gathered up together and ready to use....or organized and everything. It's the first time I've had my alpacas sheared. Then the shearer texted me at 11 and said he was 3 days behind and couldn't come until Thursday....alas. And of course, THAT disrupts the entire week! My vet and I scheduled the shearer together - she has 7 to shear and I have 5. She only had today off so I went to her place and helped her shear her own. 2 llamas, 2 alpacas, 3 sheep. 1 set of clippers. It's a lot more relaxed when you can sedate them all. So here's this very large llama with a very silly grin on her face the entire time we're climbing over and around her. The vet doesn't use her fleeces so I came home with the llama and alpaca. Both llama fleeces are very soft with little or no guard hair. The sheep fleeces were pretty nasty - heavy grease and lots and lots of VM. I've been washing some corriedale I bought so I'll have something to blend with today's fleeces. I can't wait to get working on these. My dining room table is piled high with newly washed llama- some of it is already dry. I'm itching to start blending.

And the shearer cancelled once again and is due to come on Sunday now. Alas....one day, we'll have them done. I hope mine stay calm enough to give them some braids and take a picture.

They finally got here today- of course, it's 55 degrees out! Oh well, they are done and soooo much cuter now. I'll be washing fleece forever. I'll try to get pictures tomorrow. I let my son borrow my phone so he could call us to fetch him when graduation is finished (he's singing in the choir). So no phone to take pictures....alas. No Native American or Braided topknots.

And the alpacas..... I put them in the barn ( with hay rather than lucious green grass) yesterday to avoid all the storms. They were so ready to get out of there that I might not be able to get them back inside.
