Yup, it's Mud and Manure season. Dang!
I am beyond tired of slogging through mud and poo when I go outside. Have to pick up a couple more bales of straw, or all the stock is going to be covered in the slop.

I've taken to marching the cows the long track from a corner gate up to the milk barn just to have them avoid the mud pit that sits outside the barn door which is their normal entry way.

Dry here, the grass is starting to turn in places. Haying is in full swing, 1/2 or more done. Irrigation is running along the river on crops, pasture and hay ground for second crop. Looks like 4th of July around here. Crops 2-3 weeks earlier than normal....James

I like the Way you express yourself!

Meanwhile, my flower beds are actually WILTING along side the house. I'm with James, crops are ahead of schedule, and it's really dry here already. I see an early burn ban and a long, dry summer in my future.

Rain Rain Rain and more Rain over here. everything is soggy, just had a light frost, caught my borlotti (sp) beans but left the runners, so must have been light. My lawns are nearly a 8 inches long.. can't find a dry enough time to mow them. silage season is in full swing.. but hay would not work!

Our soil is so sandy and gravelly, the 3+ inches of rain from the last week are not apparent out in the open - although we have our "mini lake" in the woods again! So, no mud here really. Manure? Well if you count what the deer and the bears are producing, let's just say going barefoot in the yard is ill advised at this moment in time.
After having summer for a week, we're either back to early spring or late fall. Freeze warning last night, chance of frost tonight. It might get into the upper 50's today. But the rain has stopped for a few days, anyway.

It's so wet here, we've taken to praying for our hay guy's crop. Should have taken him up on the offer for the first cutting... Hope he'll be able to do a second and third...
