There is a small yarn store 35 minutes north of me. Red Barn Yarn Farm (they are on Ravelry). I went to it for the first time a few weeks ago. I signed up for their monthly newsletter and I got the first one this morning. Every Saturday for the month of June they are giving free knitting lessons. I crochet but no knitting. One of my grandmothers tried to teach me, once! Didn't work, however, I do have her knitting needles (just could not part with them). So hopefully, I can make it to a couple of Saturday's. One day is out because we will have company from Florida.
Hopefully I am teachable and this time I will get it!

I know exactly what you mean about getting it. I keep meaning to go to my yarn store to learn various things. I think my local library also has knitting classes sometimes too. So cool you have a place nearby to go. I'm sure you'll get it if I do you can too.

If for some reason you can't make it, and have the ability to watch youtube videos, there are learn to knit videos on there you could watch. I figured out knitting from watching my mom, even though I'm a lefty and she's not, but my form is awful. Once I finish my blanket, I'll be watching some videos and relearning to knit properly. Crocheting I could NOT figure out watching her as a lefty! I had to watch a video to get the basics. Though now that I know them, she can just show me how to do what the pattern says and I can figure out how to do it left handed. It's great that you kept her needles too! I don't have much from my father's mom as she died before I was born, but one thing I will be inheriting are her knitting needles. My mom took them as I don't think my aunt knitted. They are cool to look at as some of them say 5 cents on the top next to the size.
