Never, ever heard of them till a week ago. A hospice patient has been asking for them. I promised his wife I would scour the area (southern Vermont) for them. So far, the grocery chains tell me many have asked about them and they are working on it. This elderly gentleman is eight-five years old. Anyone ever hear of these or have cooked them before? I am wondering if this is a regional thing or an old timey bean variety not seen much these days.

I don't know if you have an amazon account, but they are for sale there. Though I will warn you, they are not cheap there! www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dgrocery&field-keywords=yellow%20eye%20beanYour best bet may be finding a local store that sells food but isn't a chain. Sometimes they carry things that are a bit more unique... ~ I just did a quick search for health food places in Vermont, if your near Brattleboro, this place has yellow eye beans listed on their bulk foods, so it may be worth a call to see if they actually have them and their price. Hopefully they are better than amazons! www.brattleborofoodcoop.com/

Gardenelf, I did locate the beans at the co-op...Thanks! Hospice patient's wife cooked them and he was one happy man. I had some, too...delicious and hearty, kind of like great northern beans

Excellent. I'm glad to hear that the co-op had some in stock and that the gentleman got to eat some! Thanks for the update too, I was curious. I'll keep my eyes open for some around here, I love great northern beans.
