Our neighbor stopped last night & asked me if I wanted a wether he had. Said it was his grandkids & they pay no attention to it anymore. Said it has been penned in the barn a long time & he just wanted it to be able to get out in the fresh air. He dropped it off today. A big Boer wether. I have NEVER seen hooves as long as this guys!! I am estimating they were at least 8" long. He could hardly walk on them. I trimmed them as good as I could. I'll let him go a few weeks & then trim them some more. I'm not sure if I will ever get them to where they should be. I hate, hate, hate when people let them go like that. I felt sorry for him. He smelled like hogs as they have a huge hog farm. I'm pretty sure that is probably where he was kept was with the hogs. Pretty sure that was the food he got too. He's plenty fat. I wormed him & will not be giving him any grain. I'll try to get a picture soon. I should have did a before picture of the hooves.

Poor guy. Hooves can be a terribly hard thing to get back in shape. He might be sore after heavy trimming but in the long run he'll be so much better. Watch for ligament issues in his legs from the hooves being so neglected. I had a buck like that and even after I got his hooves under control he always walked like he was on stilts. Glad he's in a better place now!

Poor goat, hope you can trim and bring him comfort and glad he ended up in your care... As mad as I want to be at the farmer at least he came to THAT decision to give the goat away to someone who will take care of him....

Cale got a horse like that one time. I think it took him a year to get his feet back in shape. We still have him and he is a great horse. He was a stud and kept in a stall for almost five years... We had him gelded and he is a good riding horse now.
