Read the perfect breakfast was 2 bacon slices, 2 eggs and avocado. This keeps me really full a good 10 hrs. I mash avocado; put lemon juice and salt on it. Would like to keep 1/2 avocado till next day. Have read putting lemon juice on avocado would keep it from turning brown. Does this work; and if so, how long does avocado keep it's color? A whole avocado to eat, is just too much.

It does work, for a day or so. You can also trim off the darkened part if you want to. I usually take the pit out, put the lemon juice (a T) into a bowl, then the avocado face down in it. (lime juice works too)
The one's they are selling locally are so small, I think I could eat a whole one. My favorite way is to mash it with lemon, salt, garlic, chopped cilantro, and a little chopped jalapeno pepper--like a guacamole. Or I mix it with lemon and a little oil and salt, and use it like a dressing on a lettuce salad. Another interesting way to use it, make it like a dressing and add it to pasta and artichokes, as a cold salad.
Enjoy!

Smooth plastic wrap over the exposed part to keep air (oxygen?) Away and it will keep for a couple of days. Same for guacamole, put it in a small bowl and push the plastic wrap down and it won't turn dark as fast.

Avocado also freezes nicely. When they are at a sale price, (if you can call it that nowadays) I will buy several and scoop them out in chunks. I add a bit of lime juice to it in a freezer ziploc bag, and toss in the freezer. They stay a nice color and I can grab a small bag for whatever I need.
I use the snack size bags for singles, and use them often in a morning smoothie. Being frozen just helps the smoothie instead of adding ice. I may put 3 avocados in a quart bag for making guacamole. I only buy them on sale and always have some in the freezer this way. Win Win.

Leaving the pit in the uneaten half will work to keep it from browning for a day or two. I've done this successfully many times.
