Didn't realize that a concentrated pyrethrin container would leak at the cap (!!!GRR#!! Bonine Brand - It's built in, not broken or loose), it got knocked over and leaked on the floor. Kitty must have stepped in it, in about 5 days she was in kidney failure and as limp as a wet Kleenex. I knew enough to mark my spray bottle "Cat Poison", but never imagined the container itself could be a hazard. New rule: All chemicals like that go in the lock-up shed.
So expensive vet treatment with IV fluids, etc. and Hill's Prescription Diet food should bring her around in about 3 months.

My condolences! That stuff!
Gave me a bit of a nosebleed the one time I tried it, and the smell lingered for days.
Never use it again.

La, you must be part cat! Cats are supposed to be very sensitive to Pyrethrin, but you never see a warning. Just because it's organic doesn't mean it's not lethal. It's in all the "safe" plant sprays now.

Yes pyrethrin is very, very toxic to cats. I use Permectrin II, to keep the ticks off my horses. Have to be super, super careful with it.
Glad you got her help fast and she will be ok!

Oh my goodness, so sorry for your kitty:-(. Hoping for a full recovery for her.
Yikes, I use a Pyrethrin Equine fly spray as well as shampoo all the time, will have to be super watchful that my kitties aren't getting around it at all.

That pyrethin you have to keep away from fish too.
I'm pretty much allergic to everything that exists.
