So my local place has at least 6-7 breeds every week. All ages, kinds, types. From chickens, bantams, guineas, ducks, geese, turkey's, even quail and a few breeds of pheasants.
Last week they had frizzle Cochin bantams. Sold out! They told me they'd try to order, but no promises. Guess what I picked up today!! One red, one black and one white!! Grabbed a couple rhode islands, too. Really eyeing up the black with white spotted ones. Can't remember the name?? They lay white eggs...
Tomorrow they're getting in brown leg horns and some thing else. EE straight run were $1. Barnyard mix straight run $1 too.

Wow - lucky you!! I only have a TSC and a Southern States that do the spring chicks. There's a feed store 20 minutes in a direction I rarely go that stocks chicks year round, but they only get in common laying breeds (although I did score 3 silver laced wyandottes there last winter).

That's crazy! At this point in the season-seeing chicks at the feed stores is history! AND-what a huge variety of birds to pick from! Never have seen that here! Do you mind sharing what state you are from? Regards, Mari

I have gotten all of my mixed Bantys from TSC, and in the last batch last spring I got several Black Cochin Frizzles. I would love to have a few other colors! That would be cool:-)

I'm in western PA. It's a family dairy farm. They also hatch their own red & black sex link. They barter eggs & chicks, too!! It started small. They said they never imagined it going so well! They started ordering different breeds and how nice is it just to get one or two of each breed, usually sexed and not worry about shipping or picking up! That's crazy!
