Does anyone have one of those steam mops? If so, how do they work and are they worth the money?

I do. I LOVE it. Love, love, love. It is so light I could and have mopped my entire house 9 months pregnant. Even the 3yo can mop effectively. No chemicals needed, dissinfects with steam. No buckets, no slopping water around, no wringing, dries lightening fast, can spot mop if that's all I want to do, no sour mop heads.

Has anybody used it on hardwood floors. I've heard varying opinions. One I read said that over time the steam can warp the floors, even if they're sealed.

I TOTALLY second what tenbusybees said... Our house is practically all ceramic tile and a little linoleum-Does a fantastic job!!! Cleaning is not my favorite thing to do-but this actually makes it fun! I have a Bissell Powerfresh model #1940... Regards, Mari

I tried one and wasn't impressed. Our floor needs something with bristles to get it clean. I'm glad I borrowed one before buying. There is something our that has spinning scrub brushes that I'd like to try.

Shark Professional. I have vinyl floors and wood floors. The wood floors are, I think, the snap planks from HD or Lowe's...not *true* hard wood floors. With 10 kids our mop is used daily, several times a day. I have

Also have a Shark. Well worth the money for me and it does a good job. I am older and just can't get down on hands and knees very well and the other mops were not satisfactory. Jean

My mom loves hers! I've had 2 (different brands) and both stopped working within 2-3 uses. We have VERY hard water, so with the second on I use only distilled water. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but they worked GREAT when they worked.

My mother bought me a Shark. It worked 3 times before it quit working .... and I don't mean because I quit using it either. It literally quit steaming.

My mother has one of those and hers quit steaming also. I took a look at it after taking it apart a bit and found the problem. It was actually an easy fix. The problem now is that I cannot remember what the problem then was. I think that it was the fact that a hose had somehow disconnected itself.
If your hubby can blacksmith (as I have seen him do in some of your videos) I am sure that he has the wherewithall to fix yours...

I love mine - I have a Shark, too, and have been using it for about a year and a half. No problems with the steam working, and I love that I can steam clean the floors (laminate and vinyl) with one mop head cover, then switch to a fresh cover and go back over it all to make sure I got it truly clean. As easy as it is, I should probably do it a little more often, lol.

I have used Shark and Bissell models at clients' houses. I like them both, but I'd put the Shark in first place, as the corners of the Bissell mop are rounded, making it difficult to get into corners. The Shark mop head is also a bit bigger, so it covers ground more quickly -- always a plus!
Be careful with the Shark as the oval name badge on the front is prone to popping off, and hot steam will issue through the opening! I burned my fingers badly enough to develop blisters awhile back when I thoughtlessly tried to pop the badge back into place while the unit was still plugged in. Ouch!

I have a Shark and really like it. I used it constantly when we were showing our old house (heart pine floors). That being said, I haven't used it here ... with the amount of mud we track into the house I'm afraid we'd give it an attack of the vapors!

I inherited one and I LOVE it. It makes cleaning the floors easy. If there is a tough stain that I want to tackle, I spray a bit of clorox clean up on it and steam away. Do make sure you thoroughly sweep first, other wise you will have a wet pile of yuck pushing along the front of the mop!
