Been having a terrible two weeks or so. Had a flat tire last Wednesday after work. No one is answering, AAA said 2 hours, my jack was missing its handle.. Finally get a hold of somebody. Then I hear a catbird....i thought. Nope 3-4 week old feral kitten. I managed to grab the little fella and he was fairly calm about it. I also volunteer for a feral cat rescue group. We TNR. Unfortunately, I already knew we were shut down for fosters that very day. Any friendlies especially kittens are fostered, And adopted out. We currently have over 120 in foster. So he is here for the long haul. Meet Archer:

Precious little baby! So glad you found him! Everytime we have cats of that color they become "Randy" here! Every so often we have some dumped out here-we always welcome them to our existing group... One of the best cats we have ever had (and still do) was a juvenile dumped out in the nearby game preserve in the middle of winter! Thank God my husband saw them and stopped... That is amazing to have that many cats in foster care-never knew such a thing existed... What is TNR by the way? Regards, Mari

He looks like our tom who just passed away, and orange marmalade. Thank goodness you were there to save him!

TNR is trap-neuter-release. Sometimes it's all you can do. There are just sooo many cats & kittens.
I have two other ginger kitties, scotch and sugar. They both just turned 10. Born to a feral momma under my front porch.
Archer is starting to feel much better. Playing more often. He had a pretty bad abscess and possibly a broken leg. Vet said if leg is not bothering him, we'll wait and see. Looks like he was bitten.

Ah, he's sweet. I love ginger toms. My Sniffy was a ginger and white who lived to be 17 and a half. He was pretty rough there toward the end, as he lost teeth and had a crumpled ear from a cat fight in his teen years that resulted in a hematoma (he was gone for over 2 weeks then, and we thought we'd lost him, turned up too late to be able to fix his ear so it was straight by then). But even right to the end, he was such a sweet, loving cuddlebug, and I still miss him.

He is so cute! We just trapped a wild momma cat with 3 kittens that were probably about 8 weeks old and took them in for TNR. They suggested we try to train the kittens. One was extremely wild (after most of us getting badly scratched and bitten through leather gloves, we released it with the mother cat after a couple days). We have one that is probably ready to adopt out as she is perfectly content being held and purrs when we hold her. The other is still nervous when we hold her and will hiss occasionally, but does not bite or scratch or run when we pick her up now. Both are using the litter box so I'm hoping will be fairly easy to adopt out. Trying to tame them over the 4th weekend set us back a little as they were very nervous with all the fireworks, and we're out in the country so some of them were big and loud.

Here are my other two gingers, Scotch and Sugar, litter mates from a feral momma. You can see Scotches rumpled ear. He has a slight brain injury from a fractured skull. He was hit by a car, ruptured diaphragm, collapsed lung, broken leg too. That was 5 years ago. After major surgery, he's relegated to strict house cat!!
