I really enjoy a good barter. Today, I traded this; Champ is going to a great home, where he will get loads of attention. They are totally thrilled with him For these; They are GOS/york crosses, 2 gilts, just weaned. We hope for these girls to be the re-start of our pig breeding. DD named the one closer to the camera Flora and DS (6) named the other one Eeyai, as in Eee-aye, eee-aye, oooohh.

Looking at the pictures I would say it was a good trade both ways. If you both got what you want then it is win/win.

Thanks all! Rustaholic, we both think so I've been wanting to get back into pigs for a while, but I wanted pretty pigs. And the lard types/heritage breeds are no longer bred for production at all, and the commercial types have no lard at all, so these should be just the right crossbreds for me. And I am equally delighted with how much Champ's new owners like him, he's getting a really good home.

Great trade, Otter. Is Champ a wether or intact buck?

Jangirl, Champ's a crossbred meat goat, intact because there's a surprising demand for freezer bucks around here. He was to weed eat all summer and grace their freezer come fall, but they were so pleased with his looks and manners he may get wethered and get to practice his cart goat training.
If you're curious, we traded for the equivalent of $1.50 a lb, which is in the mid-low range of what he'd bring at the local buying station.

LOL GOS are great for temperament, and also fabulous lard pigs. Good deal!
