I finally got a rice cooker. I really like it. I know I have seen a recipe for rice and lentils in the past. Any ideas would greatly appreciated.

I dont own one, but I imagine they can steam most any small grain, just varies on time it takes and possibly amount water. If you cook more than one thing together at same time, then all ingredients have to take a similar amount time to completely cook.
I personally found way to get very similar results using a pressure cooker. But pretty sure there are people here that own/use a rice cooker and can give more useful comment than I can. I do know at least some of better ones can automatically cook rice to perfection. Thats about it.

6 c. water 1 1/2 c. lentils 1 c. brown rice 1 pack of taco seasons (or 2T. homemade) Mix and cook on "brown rice" setting.
We eat it as a side or as a taco filler.

Thank you for your ideas and recipes. I do not have a pressure cooker. I debated on getting this rice cooker. First thing I cooked was long grain brown rice. It was great. Certainly not crunchy like the last I tried to prepare. This rice cooker is a steamer too. I use my steamer all the time.

I used to love making this "coconut rice" and eating it with shrimp when we used to have our rc.
1 cup Jasmine rice 1 1/4 cup coconut milk (the canned stuff you find in the grocery isles, not the milk found by almond milk and soy milk in cartons) 1 cup water 1 chicken bouillon cube 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp ghee (or butter or oil to just make the rice not stick to the bottom)
Directions: Add everything to the RC and press the button lol (helps to swirl things around before you close the lid to cook)

This is so timely. I have a rice cooker that I have used for 30 (?) years. I've never done anything but cook rice with it. Well maybe use stock instead of water. My usual is to cook the rice (mostly brown rice) and put the liner and lid in the fridge for fried rice the next day.
Reminds me I best go put this mornings rice in the fridge.

I plug the rice cooker into a plug-in timer and set it up the night before with oatmeal. That way my husband has hot oatmeal to wake up to while he makes tea to bring to me in bed.
