My blackberries are ripening faster than I'm picking! These are the native ones and mixed between small to jumbo. The jumbo ones are so sweet! I'm going to be picking, picking, picking and then jamming, jamming, jamming!
I also planted 100 of the Triple Crown thornless blackberries two years ago. The sheep got out (don't they always on my farm??) and munched them down quite a bit last fall. But I'm still seeing a ton of berries on them. So this just might be the year of the blackberry.
Besides jam and frozen for smoothies, what does everyone else do with them? Pies? I'd love a good pie fill recipe for either cannning or freezing. Juice? or Wine? This crazy berry picker would love any recipes that you want to share.

Blackberry cobler, I love it, warm from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
The wild blackberries here just aren't producing. I have a few thornless variety that I transplanted last year so they didn't produce this year and last week a lady I know thinned out her blackberries and brought me 9 big heavy, well rooted plants, still with a lot of soil on them. After planting them, they haven't started quoting or anything so I may get berries off of those next year.

mine have just started to flower won't be getting any fruit until september. But, blackberry and apple pie, best mix ever. Blackberries make a lovely wine, I have a recipe in "food for free" which says you can juice them, leave the juice in a warm room for a couple of hours undisturbed and it will set like a loose junket. I have never tried it though.
They make a nice ingredient in summer fruit pudding.

We can berries and then juice them, not much pulp left after running through this. thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mcbCTPGnNFqZkQPYVc2ukgw.jpgWe drink the juice and make jelly as needed. We also just drain the juice from canned berries through a little sieve, then make fruit crisp, otherwise too much liquid for crisp....James

Mix flour, sugar, butter and milk, pour into 9x13 inch baking dish, then put the berries evenly on top. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown ... This recipe is good with blue berries, peaches, pineapple most any fruit ..and of course you can half this recipe..it is good, easy and quick ....

Great ideas everyone- thanks! I'll be out picking again this evening. You'd think I'd get sick of it, but I never do. I'm always saying "just one more berry and then I'll stop..."

Well, I did get sick of them LOL and made about 5 year's worth of jam and jelly my first two years living here. I want to try making blackberry vinegar next! and pure juice to mix with others for drinks and maybe some syrup for pancakes and not just jam next time I tackle the little devils! I also pick the little, half dry,or too tart ones and mix up a berry, peanut butter and seed/grain loaf as a treat for my chickens all winter. I freeze whole marked bags for that use. disclaimer-haven't Tested this vinegar yet! linkhttp://www.organicauthority.com/eco-chic-table/homemade-fruit-vinegar-recipe.html

bopeep, Just over 3 years since you posted your recipe for cobbler and I'm just getting around to making it tonight, haha. My berries are ripening a bit later than when I first posted. But the cultivated berries are just huge this year! I had a bit of trouble with my trellising last year- it collapsed under the weight. This year too many things were happening and I let the berry batch go. It's totally out of control, but I'm getting plenty. Today I canned too much jam and have a good start on pie filling using the clear jel recipe. Had some berries left over and thought I'd try your cobbler.
