Ok Doctor says lose weight, been watching calorie intake 1500.
Because of where I live most my meat I intend on being fish. Every species except one I can Bake or Grill up and be very good. The only type I can't is Suckers, because they are so Bony there is only two ways to cook them, Can them or Score and Fry them.
Canning they are just so so , not that good eating. Frying they are the best tasting fish a person can eat.
I'm thinking Frying watching portions and at most twice a week? Thoughts?

Have you considered 'smoking' them?
Some of the best eats known to man....

If you grill it, the fish won't retain much fat. Here's a good generic recipe:
Marinate fish for an hour in:
1/4 cup olive oil 6 cloves chopped garlic (more or less to taste) 2 TB lemon juice 2 TB chopped parsley 2 TB chopped basil (fresh, or use dried to taste) salt and pepper to taste
Cook to your preferred doneness. It's awesome, and low in calories. Any firm white fish will do.

Problem is the Bones, if they are scored and Fried Hot it fries the Bones up to where you don't have to worry about them. Can eat them by mouth full, not have to pick through.

Good grief, if you care about your health, just pull the bones before you cook the fish. Why do you think needle-nosed pliers were invented?

Well, ya got me there. Where I come from, Sucker is bait fish and nothing more. I've not eaten one. Obviously I'm missing out. And I apologize; you did ask if forum members thought if your eating them fried once or twice a week would be ok. I read more into your thread title and should have read your post more carefully. You didn't ask for recipes. In answer to your question, I say ask your doctor. No one else can give you a well-informed answer. I hope it's one you like, but I suspect it won't be. Best to you.

Funny my present Doctor is wanting me to lose weight but like she says some fish there is no other way to cook them but fried.
Here Suckers are mainly Gigged at night in middle of the Winter then fried on the river bank along with adult beverages. Me I just catch them Rod and Reel.
If I stick with taking in between 1000 and 1500 calories even if I should go over once a week all it good.

Grind suckers or other bony fishes to make fish cakes. Just remove the backbone as the small bones will cook down or be small enough to not notice. Done that many times also with sheepshead, small carp, and pickeral.

Done that many times also with sheepshead, small carp, and pickeral. Martin Best way is to Can them. It totally changes the taste, grinding or canning. Like any other meat.
Love Deer made into Burger, love Pork made to Sausage but both have a different flavor with out grinding.
If I could Grill Suckers and not deal with Bones I would. But like I say they are the best eating fish out there just the dang Bones.
Many have said Smoke them. Truth is I have never Smoked Fish, plus if I'm right they are Brined which I can't have the salt.
Catch plenty of Trout, have been baking them and doing good.
