We adopted her four years ago from the animal shelter, an obviously purebred GSD with no history. She went through spaying and heartworm treatment and we knew from X-rays we would be dealing with hip dysplasia. She was always a lady, with perfect manners, polite with everyone but adopted DH as *her* person and was never truly content unless she was with him. The last few months the dysplasia became worse and we managed the pain the nest we could, until it was obvious she was no longer having good days. Today, here at the farm, with DH and I both comforting her, she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge with the help of our vet. Her four years with us was all too short but she is now pain free and at rest under the cedar trees at the farm.

Awww, so sorry. We have a German Shepherd. She will be 12 this year & is going downhill. Almost completely deaf & has a hard time getting around. I am sure we will have to put her down soon.

So sorry. It is so very sad when we have to say goodbye to our furbabies who have become family members!

I'm so sorry. I had to put down my own Contessa (Tessa) at age 16, and I still miss her, 7 years later.

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to say goodbye. We have shepherds, too. The good ones always take a piece of your heart with them. In all my years of owning dogs, Tessa was the first GSD I ever had and except for her health problems, she was as close to perfect as any dog could possibly be.

Our best dog of all time was our beautiful Rottweiler who weighed 150 pounds. He left us almost two years ago and we miss him every day. Now we have a Golden Retriever. He is a ball of love wrapped in tons of shedding hair. I didn't know any dog could shed this much!

I'm so very sorry. It is a loss that few can understand unless they have also lost one they loved dearly. My sympathies and prayers are with you.

I'm so sorry. We also have a GSD that I found 4.5 years ago in our town. She was rather ancient then, we can't even begin to fess her current age. At that time the vet thought she was at least 9 years old. I have watched with sadness as her hips have given out more and more lately, and I know that her time is short. She is solely my dog,, she will go to. Ow one else but me and will do whatever she has to do to be by my side.
Bless you for loving her for the years you were able to, it meant the world to her, I promise.

It’s always good to see someone give a dog a great end of life.
