I talked with Conservation Department about where I have been hunting Hogs. They told me they have wiped them out in that area.
Seems they have a Drop Trap, set the Trap, Bait under it, watch from anywhere, if there is activity under the Trap, they watch with iPhone or Computer, when all the Hogs are under the Trap they drop it.
They said they have killed thousands there. Like my wife said all that is needed is couple bred Sows and numbers will be back up there.
Thing is Conservation Department said they killed all the Hogs East of us years ago but know a Guy that has killed many recently.
What is your thoughts on them saying they have killed them all?

They may have gotten a lot, maybe even the biggest majority, but saying they killed ALL is like me saying I got ALL of the weeds out of my half acre garden.

What they should have said was, We have trapped all the wild hogs that are not afraid of seeing a bait pile under a drop trap...... Hogs are not stupid, and they breed like mice. Never going to get em all, like saying i sprayed bug killer so all the bugs in the yard are gone!!!!

This is one reason they are so hard to get rid of they learn fast.
Plus the fact they have 3 Litters a year and start at 6-8 months old and if a Sow is killed with little ones another Sow will adopt them.
They said they didn't like me hunting them because I run them out of the area.

Seriously doubt it. Very hard to eradicate hogs once they get started.

Also 'wishful thinking' on their part....and that's really NOT your problem. As far as I know, they can't keep you from hunting them either!!! Although I did find this article concerning THEIR concern on the matter: www.semissourian.com/blogs/davis/entry/51704/Sounds a bit like they're more concerned about making sure that they have something on which to base their jobs, rather than actually trying to eliminate the wild hog population. And in answer to your original question, that's like OUR DNR who claims that there are no wild cougars in the state! Explain that to the two horse owners in MY COUNTY, whose horses were attacked, with the evidence indicating that a very large cat did the damage; enough so, that one of the animals had to be put down.

They've been shooting them from helicopters in our area of Ozark County, along with trapping.
I can tell you that I used to get a LOT of hog pics on my game cameras, every card pull. Have not had a pic of a hog since last winter.
And I swear the turkeys are already more numerous...snakes too.

I gotta find me a place to hunt hogs; so far as I know there are none close by. Deer yes, maybe a few turkeys, a bear or two reported but no hogs.
