Let them be and have Babies. Oh they hit them all the time up here on the highway. My Son hit 6 one year. We pick up Road Kill if it is good.

One night several years ago, I managed to hit 6 in one accident. Totalled my Mazda Protege. Forty-one miles per gallon of gas; I still miss that car!

Last fall, I was coming home after dark and less than 3 miles from home.
Coming thru a low area, that produces low-hanging fog, and as I began going up the long incline, it started to dissipate just enough to reveal 3 deer directly in my pathway. The first was standing broadway in my lane and not moving, the 2nd was on the double yellow; also not moving but turned and facing me and the 3rd was on the opposite edge of the other lane; also turned towards me and not moving. All of this was taken in a mere moment, while going at 45mph and with less than 150 feet to respond to it. I should also mention, that there was another car on my tail and one other vehicle approaching from the opposite direction; perhaps 500 feet ahead.
Figured it was going to be toast for me or at least my vehicle (which had just got out of the shop) and also figured I'd be lucky if at least two of the deer didn't meet their maker as well. I'm not sure why but instinctively I decided to go for the area between the 2nd & 3rd deer. Prior to doing this, I lightly touched my brakes to alert the guy behind me and also hit my high beams to let me see better. Then I swerved left of center and then back again. Miraculously, we sailed between BOTH DEER without any connection with either of them; didn't even spook them enough for them to move, but it was also good news for those other drivers as well....they saw the wild driving and must have figured out what was happening and both slowed way down, while the deer got out of the roadway for them.
