Well it's getting to be the time of year for turning on the heat.
And I have yet to find a replacement radiator for the one outlet in the house missing one.
In the meantime I lugged one cast iron radiator upstairs the other day.. and then I had to lug it downstairs again.. when it went up, I 'walked' it up the steps, leaning it on one step then the other, on the way down I used a dolly. I had planned to change radiators -- take a short fat one and replace it with a long thin one, then bring the short fat one downstairs to take up less space in the kitchen. But it was not to be.. I discovered the radiators use different sized pipe connections upstairs and downstairs, and that was that.
So being without one in the meantime, I tried screwing a cap on the pipe missing one, even though I had read they were nonstandard size, and no success, second cap I found looked like it would fit and screw on, but didn't thread.
Any suggestions folks? Don't want to permanently seal of the pipe, I do want to find another radiator for the spot, but in the meantime is there a good solution or place to get a screw on cap that'll fit it?

? Why didn't you just use a reducing/enlarging coupling? The only thing you would be changing is the BTU's depending on which radiator has the larger surface area and pipe size.
This is a general rule. If the long thin radiator has more surface area and larger pipe connection it would put out more BTU's than a shorter fat radiator with a smaller pipe connection.
But you should have been able to swap the 2 with a reducer/enlarger coupling etc..
