Thanks, everyone. He is just a big bundle of love - very furry, being half Great Pyr and half what appears to be Golden Retriever. He's a big boy, about 32" at the shoulders. When he looks at me with those eyes and wrinkles his brow, you can see him thinking, and he melts my heart. You can see it was a drizzly day when the pic was taken - it brings out his curls.

What a handsome guy. Didn't you have his mother and raise him?

What a handsome guy. Didn't you have his mother and raise him? Yes, that's right! His mother was a beautiful Great Pyr, but a bit of a hussy. Her litter looked like half a dozen different dogs. I'd planned to have her bred to another purebred Great Pyr, but she had other ideas. Had her spayed after Muttley was born, and right after that, I believe she was SSS by a former neighbor. He'd threatened to shoot her if she rolled his dog again, and she disappeared less than a week afterward. Couldn't prove it, of course. He'd come riding down into our cul de sac on his 4 wheeler with his dog barking like crazy every time, and Holly would go out and put him on his back. Never hurt him or tried to bite, just put him in his place on her turf. Muttley was my pick of the litter, and he's been such a good boy. He still barks at "night monsters", but he's quieter than your typical Pyr, and while he's still a bit shy around strangers, he's not as shy as a Pyr. More of the Golden influence in him, I think.
