I'm looking for some new ideas for dinner New Year's Eve. We usually have appetizers, but I'd like to try something new, just not sure what. I'd love to hear ideas.

We have always done fondue on NY eve, )that was our youngest daughters request) but she passed away 9 years ago and it took me until last year to start doing fondue again. We have fondue with our best friends, we have cheese, bullion or oil and dessert fondue so it takes about 4 hours to eat and enjoy each others company

I made stuffed mushroom caps last year and they were a big hit. Will probably do that again. (They were stuffed with Italian sausage, panko, pecorino romano, etc.)

Traditionally I make buffalo chicken wings, but looks like this year it might just be dh and I (and I don't like wings) so they might be off the menu this time. I am going to make the stuffed mushroom caps like farmchix, though

Water Chestnuts wrapped in bacon and covered with your favorite BBQ sauce, they are to die for they are baked in oven and oh so good, you can find recipe on line...
Another would be little smokes in crock pot with BBQ sauce and grape jelly added, both dishes require tooth picks...
A crock pot of cheese with some fried up pork sausage added and you could add your home made salsa's.....

We usually do a variety of apps, dips, cold and hot munchies. My aunt and I each make 4 or 5. We take turns with houses.
We've always made the stuffed mushrooms with Romano, panko and lots of garlic. We top them with a homemade Alfredo sauce. Usually homemade egg rolls, hot crab dip, homemade pretzels.....mmmmmmm
Whatever sounds good! Lol

I always make Chinese and everyone gets a fortune cookie! We eat this early then as the evening progresses we might have chips/dip, leftover cookies, cheese and salami, fresh veggies etc...

We usually just have chips or crackers with dip and other "snacky" type foods....the must is sparkling cider to toast in the New Year.

We go to a friend's for New Years Eve. This year I thinking about taking grilled sausages, cut into bite sized pieces in sauerkraut in a crockpot to stay warm. I'm tired of sweets (I know I'm strange) and want something a little more substantial than chips.
Maybe sausage, sauerkraut and potatoes would work for a dinner idea?

When we have guests for New Year's, we usually have Raclette. But this year, we'll be by ourselves, so we'll probably have something less traditional, like homemade pumpkin ravioli.

@gardensmurf , I had to look up raclette - so now you taught me something new It sounds interesting. It's delicious! And being a Swiss traditional meal, it's 50% cheese!

We had a really fun, relaxing celebration. We had pizza, wings, various dips, chips, veggies, pickles (claussen) pie, & cookies! Thank you for all the ideas!

Well that settles it - I'm coming up your way for the next New Year!!! I'm drooling at the thought of all those scrumptious morsels. And thanks for the reminder about fondue, @janisr - haven't had one of those for ages, so will mentally book it in sometime soon.
