My wife called me said Conservation Department said there was a Button Buck hit on the Highway by the Golf Course. Said they didn't know how it was and I wasn't obligated to take it.
I drove up there, couldn't find him. Then went on a little side road, seen him on the Golf Course. Get to him, first off it wasn't a Button Buck, but a Buck that had shed his Antlers. Yes he was fresh. Seen two Legs broke. Ok still looked salvageable. Turned him over. Found Ham on other side busted up. Place on Spine looked like it had been busted and Neck looked Busted. Decided it wasn't worth fooling with. Called Conservation Department, told them what I thought.
Guess they sent a Guy my wife knows out to get it off the Golf Course. He told my wife he didn't think it was in that bad of shape. Like I told my wife I've seen plenty of Road Kill to know what I can salvage.

Picked one up Tuesday night. Young buck from last May. 10ยบ at the time so no choice but to start skinning as soon as it was home. Several ribs stove in on left side. One punctured the heart so it was virtually dead by the time it hit the ground. 35mph speed limit there but doesn't take much of a body hit as their ribs are so fragile. That's why they are often seen dead 100 yards into a field. They die from a punctured lung.
