Bought a '63 5HP Sea King Motor. It was down around Zero so it was a little stiff but ran.
I sure hope it serves me for what I want.

It may not pick the bow up, but should get you there. Will be better going downstream though.

That was when my wife decided we didn't need a Camper.

Seems to me that Sea King was Monkey Ward's motor. They ran well and would take a flat bottomed skiff along at a respectable rate. There was one inlet where the tide ran hard, and that slowed us down but did not stop us by any means.
Those old engines are bad about stripping the water pump rubber from the shaft, so I'd check that. What surprises me is the ready availability of parts.
Am I right about Ward's selling Sea Kings?

I remember in '58 when my dad bought a 5½ hp Western Auto motor. Made fishing fun. You could feel a mild breeze when it was running full throttle. Before that we had to paddle. Once got caught in a scary thundershower a good half mile from land.
