My doe Rue is maybe due to kid later this month. The last couple of days she has been pretty much off feed, still going out to pasture, but mostly laying around.
I'm thinking a worming might be in order for her but I am worried about how much wormer I can give her without worrying about aborting kids. The drugs I have on hand are Ivom and Ivom Plus.
She's a full sized Nubian.
Opinions?

I would run a fecal before worming her. I try not to give anything to pregnant does unless absolutely necessary.

mary, seconding Wendy's input. If she's laying around and off her feed, it may or may not be worms. I'd suggest taking her temp, checking her eye lids, and doing a fecal. Get her up on her feet - maybe offer her a treat but make her get up and go to it. Watch her move around and see if she has weakness, appears disoriented, etc. Make sure she's drinking - even if you have to add some molasses to her water to entice her. It can be so many other things than worms. Too long off feed can create a rumen imbalance You may want to consider some probiotics or a nutrient drench if she's seriously off her feed. Come on back and let us know what you find and what you did and most importantly, how your girl is doing.

Agree you could collect a fresh poop sample and have your vet check it for you, I think my vet charges $10.00 for spinning poop then you will have an Idea of does she have a huge load and what kind of worm, using the correct wormer is important and you should stay clear of white/milk colored wormers with preggo animals

Thanks. She's not down. She's laying around more than I'm comfortable with. Funny this morning she went over to eat another doe's feed. I moved her and put her feed in front of her and she wouldn't eat it. I should have let her eat the other doe's, I guess. I did give her some wormer last night, but I don't think much of it went down her. I felt it on my hand on the other side of her mouth. I guess I didn't do a very good job. Probiotics sounds like a good idea. And I'll look and see if I have any molasses. I might have to put that on my list.
