First time goat-grandparents to 5 new kids today - so far, so good. Our FF's were due tomorrow and Saturday. Eleanor started this morning and delivered 2 boys and a girl in quick succession - girl was breech but we got her out fine. Katherine must have thought that looked like a good idea because I hear her in the other pen making noises -- sure enough, she's starting to deliver her first (boy) while Eleanor is delivering her breech girl. Good thing DH ran in there. Got the breech kid out and cleaned up and ran across because Katherine is struggling -- big headed boy - took a while and a lot of yelling and some help, but he's out and ok. Katherine labored for another 40 minutes and finally delivered her girl. This being our first time - they were supposed to give us a day or so between and today is of course the coldest, windiest, snowiest day forecast for this week. We had one newborn warming pen set up - and had to makeshift another. Everybody has gotten their first few colostrums and are sleeping. Both does are standing well for the kids and have passed their afterbirth. Now to keep everybody warm for the next couple days until they adjust. Holy smokes - I need a nap! Pictures to follow but we got a little distracted with both delivering at the same time.
