Our pup had his last injection for Lyme disease yesterday. He immediately had problems with his heart racing, pacing, rubbing his ears on everything and eventually throwing up for quite awhile. We took him to a doctor out of the area. It seems to have been an allergic reaction. He was given a steroid injection and Benadryl. He seems much better today.

Here in Central WI (now almost ground zero for Lyme's disease), they encourage the vaccine every year and we get it for our black lab. She has had other reactions to the various shots- Lepto, Bordatella etc. but had none to the Lyme's.
Given that my DH got Lyme's within 2 months of our taking possession of our home here from not wearing enough DEET or the permethrin infused clothing I bought him in our YARD which has no bushes or trees, I need to at least try for our dog.
Just another take on it. I hope your dog is MUCH better.

There is a new species of bacteria that causes Lyme disease. The old one is Borrelia burgdoferi. The new one is B. Mayonii, discovered by the Mayo clinic. The new bacteria has been found in humans.
My vets don’t give it because there isn’t really proof that it protects a dog from Lyme disease, and many dogs have bad reactions, as yours has. The vaccine can GIVE the dog the disease. I’m interested in the stevia cure.

My vet tried talking me into giving my dog the lyme vaccine today which I declined after reading this post. He stays in the yard anyways and has never had a tick. My other dog who goes everywhere with me gets the vaccine every year and seems to be a tick magnet even though I use frontline on him monthly.
