Bought a Saanen doe in milk today. The guy was only milking once per day & said she was a heavy milker. I milked her tonight & got a gallon & a quart!!! I plan on going to twice a day as I hate to see her so full. Her udder is HUGE! I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. I didn't really need any more milk, but love my Saanens! I actually bought 2 does, but plan on selling the other one. I wanted her for her buck kid as he is not related to the doe I am keeping. He is also not related to the other 2 I have. I also came home with an Oberhasli doe & her 2 doe kids.

And here I am trying to figure out how to pare down my herd. lol. I agree, once a day is not enough for that poor doe!! Sounds like you have a nice group.

I LOVE my Saanens. Their personalities are the best (to me). And for a goat, they sure do kick out the milk. I'm currently bottle feeding 4 saanen doelings and I find myself making up excuses just to go out and visit with them.

I love how placid my Saanens tended to be - gentle giants of the dairy goat world. Wendy, you sound like you are cultivating a serious caprine addiction, lol! Obers are so pretty, too.
