Woot!!!! This is awesome! Hi, everyone! Marchie said she cannot see the smilies. You can't use the quick reply to see the smilies...you have to use the "reply" button ... and then there are a few. Not as many as the other board and nothing much cute yet...but they are there!

I do not have a fiber addiction. I do not hide my fiber. It is neatly stored in my closet, in the spare bathroom, under the bed, and on the dining table. I don’t have a problem.

I could stop at any time ... I just don't want to.
Really, it keeps my brain & hands & legs active. There is always something new to learn. It keeps me (somewhat) sane. i don't ever want to stop!

I haven't been very active on the other site. I did read what has been going on and decided to come here. Haven't been very busy with my fiber, life in general. Two new grandbabies added to our family, girl in Jan. & boy in Feb, so still pretty fresh. I must tell you, that, last fall, my Mom had to have surgery at Mayo. What was to be a very routine heart procedure went waayy bad. She fell into "1% that bad things happen" and spent about 12 hours on the surgery table. To summarize, she had basically the heart procedure, aorta shredded when going off the bypass, then a vascular surgery to repair in the afternoon. A week later she had to have part of the bowel removed because it had died and received an colostomy bag. Spent 5 weeks in the hospital, 4 of those in ICU. About a month & a half ago she had the colostomy removed and bowel re-connected. She is doing amazingly well for all she has been through at 74. We praise God for His Hand in her healing and are so thankful. All that to say, my brothers & sisters were there off & on as we could leave our homes to be with Dad and Mom during this time. Living in a hotel and eating out all the time loses it's appeal very quickly. At least the hotel room had a fridge so we did buy some grocerys that we were used to eating and less cost. I was so homesick but we did what we had to do and the thing that helped the most was I took a hook and a set of needles with me. I worked on a crib size baby blanket for my niece and countless cotton yarn dishrags. They were a very simple double crochet stitch and just knitted dishrags. The same stitches back & forth held my sanity together, kept me from picking at my fingers (hangnails and bad nervous habit) and helped me deal with what we needed to do for each other. I met a woman who crocheting blankets and they were beautiful. Way more skill than I have. Mom also received 3 prayer shawls from different people and they were so lovely and warm, in spirit & thought as well as physical. Since then, I have crocheted two more crib blankets as gifts and need to make two more, one each for my new little ones. Anyway, I know I have not posted anything for a great while but I have enjoyed a read as I was/am able to. Looking forward to being here. Oh, & I'm still working at the sock thing. Never give up, never surrender. God bless, jd

Oh Judy, what a time for your family. I'm very happy to hear your Mom is dong okay now. If it wasn't for fiber arts, I know many of us would have lost our sanity a long, long time ago.
Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Just getting my bearings. I have been posting photos as attachments but the photos seem mighty small.
What is the trick?
And how do we tag another person?

Wind in Her Hairfor tagging, check out the discussion with @trellis (he just lurves tagging & being tagged now!) I've been doing the attachments also. Yes, they are small but they go to full size when you click them.

Wow! Feels like HT with a facelift and a much better atmosphere!! This is great! Just so everyone knows, I don't spin. I weave. but that doesn't stop me from kibitzing with all these fine people.
WIHH: I want that last wheel you posted!! IF and/or when I do venture into the world of spinning I want something like that!!!

Weaving counts! Somebody's gotta do something with all that yarn coming off the spinning wheels. Looms can suck up yarn at a great rate so that will give us an excuse to make more yarn. Woot!

I'm hoping to become a fiber folk. I knit and crochet, albeit very slowly, but I'm happy to be able to make stuff! So Howdy, and I hope to get to know you all better.

Someone knitted me a natural fiber turtle neck sweater. I almost tried it on, then I realized they were just trying to pull the wool over my eyes.

I'm just having fun. At the other place I was always afraid of twisting someone's knickers too tight. Seemed too many people got too offended too easily, but most of the people I see here, I think I can be a bit more liberal with my joking. Wait, did I just say I wanted to be a liberal??? Scratch that.....
