I ordered a Scoby and should be getting it this week. I have never made Kombucha but am anxious to give it a go. I had my first bottle from the health food store a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed the tart, tangy taste. From my research on the web, there is most definitely a devoted following of this traditional drink. There are many variations on additions to it, raspberry sounded especially delicious.

I've made it on and off in the past. I love the home made version, but mine never tastes the same as the ones from the store. I like a ginger grapefruit one that I bought at the grocery.

I did both Kombucha and water Kefir for most of a year. I would mix the 2 in my glass and really liked the drink. When we moved off grid and literally camped all last Summer into the Fall, I let it go as I just didn't think it would all survive.

I did it for years, seemed to me that getting it to be just like the store versions was all about the timing, I kept tasting it till the last bit of sweet was gone, and then I bottled it and started another batch right then timing seems to have to be within a few hours, waiting till you get home from work if it should have been done in the morning is way to long, same with if it needs to be done in the middle of the night, waiting till morning would be to much I eventually gave up on all of it

I actually liked my home brew better than store bought and it didn't bother us if each batch was a bit different

I used to make it and it really helped my digestion, also helped my migraines. I do like the taste of the store bought better, though.
