Corner to corner crochet has been popping up a lot in my facebook feed because I follow a couple of crochet pages, but this is new to me. Has anyone made anything using this technique? I made a small washcloth just to figure it out, and once you get it it's quick and easy. I love the designs that I've seen online and I ordered a couple of patterns so that I could make more. I've been in a crochet rut lately, not really needing to make anything and not wanting to waste yarn just to have something to do. I think that maybe these will be challenging enough to keep me interested. I bought the graphs for a bear and a stained glass window. The bear is for me and seems simple enough to make sure I know what I'm doing. And I'm thinking I'll make the stained glass one for my mom for her birthday or Christmas. www.c2cgraphs.com/listing/257842278/bear-afghan-crochet-c2c-graph-and-wordwww.c2cgraphs.com/listing/275663042/stained-glass-cross-c2c-graph-and-word

So I got the bear halfway done. I took this picture to show y'all and I was like, "What's that block on the back of his leg?" Yeah, that's not supposed to be there. So I frogged back to the row before that block. Then I decided I was too aggravated with it right now to deal with it so I put it up. lol I can't be the only one that has ever done that, right? So, now I've started on the stained glass one for my mom. I'm only on row 25 of it so not enough to show anything yet. Hopefully when I take a picture of it to show y'all I won't see a big mistake. Not to self: check finished size before starting work on an afghan in the summer. This thing is huge, that's my couch it's draped across. On another note, I am really enjoy making these. They are just challenging enough to keep me interested with all the color changes, but not too much that I have to concentrate solely on them. If that makes any sense at all.

I like CtoC and have made several baby afghans. I have never been brave enough to try a graphagan. I've dropped off crochet because 1) everyone has everything they want and 2) it's too darned hot. Maybe I'll get interested again during the winter.

I normally crochet in the winter too, but with the air conditioner it hasn't been too bad so far. I usually catch up on wash cloths and other small items in the summer, but I wanted to be able to get the one done for my mom before December. It will either be her birthday or Christmas present. I know me, once it cools off I'll start projects and then run out of time because of the busyness of the holidays. This also gives me time to put it down if I get tired of it. I hate that feeling when you are rushing to get something made when it seems more like a chore than a labor of love.

I got a few rows done on the stained glass one and wanted to get some opinions on the colors. The minty green color is not that light it's just my camera flash. What do you think? Are the colors going to be okay together? (The only color missing from the picture is the purple for the cross.)

Thanks mzgarden. One of the reasons I really like the patterns that I bought is because you get a chart and a written pattern. I prefer using a written pattern so this is great for me. This pattern has 5 pages and I just finished page 1. I plan on weaving in my ends when I complete a page so that I'm not stuck with a ton when I finish. I'm still not sure about that light minty color, but maybe it will grow on me as I get more done. (It might just be where there is a lot of orange and red in the starting corner.) So here's a picture to show my progress so far. Enjoy the picture because the next section will take me longer since I'm into a lot of color changes now.

KYMama, I really really like the bear afghan. I wouldn't worry one bit about the stitch on the leg. Someone will love that afghan.

feather, the bear is for me and that one block would drive me crazy. lol I'll finish the bear after I complete the stained glass one or when I get tired of all the color changes and want something easier. Either way I'll get it done, there's no rush on it since I'm keeping it. I'm already looking for other designs to give as gifts to other family members this year for the holidays.

Finally finished another page so I can post a picture showing my progress. I'm almost to the halfway mark and I can't wait to start decreasing. The rows I'm on right now are taking anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to finish because of all the color changes. Along with it being summer and having a lot to do outdoors I'm having a hard time finding the time to work on the afghan without any interruptions. And I definitely don't want to stop in the middle of a row and mess it up. The colors in the picture are off because it's getting ready to storm here so I had very little natural light and what little there was I was blocking because I was standing on the couch to get the picture. lol

KyMama, what a striking piece of art - I really love it. I wouldn't have near the crochet skill to attempt what you're doing, but I sure wish I did. Can't wait to see it finished.

@kiwifarmgal , it's not as hard as it looks - just chain stitches and double crochets. I wouldn't recommend starting with this many color changes though, that's why I started with the bear. The bear only had two colors to keep track of while I practiced the technique. Although technically I made a square a little bigger than a washcloth first. I wanted to make sure I could figure it all out on a smaller piece before buying more yarn.

I've finally started decreasing on both ends. Since my stitch count is decreasing and the weather has finally cooled off I've been working on it more, hopefully I can finish it up pretty quickly. But first I've got to weave in all those ends.

So I realized a couple of weeks ago that my brother's birthday is coming up. Normally I get him a nice book about the Civil War, but this year I decided to do something different. What do you think? It's supposed to be a throw but that's my queen bed that it's on so it's a nice size. My husband said it's the size he needs since most of the store bought ones are too short. I hope my brother likes it. And no I haven't finished my mom's yet. My brother's birthday is in less than a month so it got priority over hers. I think I'm going to try and squeeze in one for my sister's birthday too. But since she's the shortest person in the family I'm going to make it a little smaller. lol

KyMama, I suppose it's too late to be adopted into your family? What a lovely gift. I think this winter I may try a graphagan - I've let it scare me for lots of years - this might be the year to tackle it.

Thanks y'all. I don't know why but I always doubt my men's gifts. It seems perfectly normal to give my mom an afghan but I really had to think about giving my brother one. I forgot to mention that I used a perler bead picture I found on Pinterest and converted it to a graph. Once I realized I could do that it really opened up the possibilities for designs. mzgarden, it's too late this year to join the family. lol You should definitely try one this winter. I don't think I have the patience for one that is single crocheted in rows, but this c2c works up really quickly although you can't be as detailed due to size. Once I get my gifts finished I get to work on baby projects because my best friend's daughter is pregnant with a little girl due in February. My friend told her daughter that I probably already started making things as soon as they texted me the sex of the baby. lol There may or may not be a new Pinterest board titled "Baby Crochet".

I ran out of the violet yarn and Wal-Mart has decided not to carry it in-store anymore. I was cruising along and now I'm stuck waiting for the yarn to be delivered to the store so I can pick it up. Since I can't work on my mom's I've moved on to my sister's gift. After spending days trying to design an afghan with the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland I gave up and went with a much simpler design. I had to stop myself when I remembered that I only have until December 18th to get it done. It's supposed to be a black cat with gold eyes and a cute little pink nose. I'm almost halfway so it should be finished quickly, maybe even before I get the yarn to finish my mom's.

I finally finished my mom's afghan. I can't seem to capture the colors right with my camera because of the sunlight in my bedroom, but you can get a good idea from this picture. The really pale color is the mint green, I don't know why it reflects light so much. Anyway, I think she will love it! And here is my sister's finished throw, it's smaller than the other ones I made because she is smaller.

KyMama - there's no "think she will love it" about it - your Mum couldn't help but love it!!!! It's so beautiful, and a real credit to you. What a lot of work, but oh, what a result!!! And your sister's throw - WOW - that is just sooooooooo cool. I'd love to see her face when she gets it. Such skill and artistic talent..... Thanks for letting us see them finished. Been following their progress. Simply wonderful.
