Ok our DIL has always hated Dogs. She has a Masters in Psychology has trained our Grandsons to fear Dogs but because of our Son they still got two but got rid of them when they was selling their house. We got one of them.
Me and my DIL have got into arguments about Dogs. She hates my views of Dogs she constantly reminds me Dogs are not Kids even though I continue to call mine my Kids.
Me I can get along with Human Kids and Dogs but both I like to behave around me. To me Dogs just really try to please more. As for her I remember a time she didn't want Kids as in the fact the second Son she wanted to give up for adoption but our Son said he would take him. Then she moved in with Son they had 3 more Sons. She used the fact she was a single Mother to pay for her way through College.
Anyway my Dogs are still my Kids and I Love them.

She sounds like my mother. I was an only child and never allowed pets. Both my folks were so anal about everything inside and out being perfect. A dog might dig a hole in the lawn, chew on something . I have been married for 39 years . I have had dogs for 39 years. My mother will say I can't believe I raised a child that will sleep with a dog. I call my two dogs my girls. She will have a fit . Hubs will go on a trip and I hear I am so worried about you out there in the middle of nowhere by yourself. But mom I am not alone I have my girls. I prefer their company to that of many humans.

People that don't like pets make me nervous. I avoid them, as there is just something unnatural about not liking animals, in my book.
But each to his own!

I know people who don't want pets. What annoys me is when a non-pet person tells me I shouldn't have any. Nobody is asking you to feed my dog or let my cat inside. What do they care?

I don't mind people who like pets but don't want one because they know they can't take care of it properly, ie: not home enough. It's the people that don't have pets because they don't like animals that make me leery.

Horses and dogs were always my favorite animals to keep around the place. I had other sorts but that was the favorites. Nowadays there's not a pet of any sort to be found here. That's because after the last dog passed at 18 years old, we realized we didn't need another pet that may very well outlive us. In that case it would be inappropriate to set aside money for its care, or burden a kinsman with the chore. So all our animals now are wild or feral. We don't get to pet them but we see them a pretty good bit. Sometimes we kill and eat a few, and other times we live trap and move them over a bit, at least one major terrain feature, because they get too big for their britches. I like them all, and mostly like them better than all the other critters we had, except dogs and horses.

I wouldn't let him have that dog back. Bouncing around from owner to owner isn't fair to the dog.

Rockpile, I mean no disrespect here, but are you ever going to stand up to your spoiled rotten bunch of kids who seem to do nothing but boss you around, take advantage of you, and break your heart?
I would tell said son to buzz off, the dog belongs to you now. End of conversation.
