I enjoy most everything outdoors...but one of my favorites is Off-roading in 4x4 vehicles. Trail-riding...rock-crawling...way out in isolated rough country. To say I "love" rock-crawling is a bit of an exaggeration...because I am a coward about extreme trails. I get out and walk...sometimes.

There are only 3 other states with a single peak over 14,000 ft. , fordy

Ah-yes !!! Colorado is fabulous !! An on-line group of off-roaders has a meet-and-greet every July...in the Ouray-Telluride area. They come from all over the US. One of my sons has gone twice...and that is on my Bucket-List. I was hopeful for this year, but it's not in the "stars". We are in the process of re-building my 4x4. It's going to be BAD !!! It should be done very soon; but after building it, I'll have to save up money to go anywhere.

At the time could rent a Jeep in town for $20 a day, get a Map to all the Ghost Towns. It was a No Brainer. I lived right on the Arkansas River, fun fishing out my Bedroom Window.
My BIL says it has gotten crazy with prices and just dealing with the people anymore.

Awesome !!! I'll forfeit parachute-jumping...but I want a motorcycle. I bought the motor cycle 7 years ago at age 62 ....... and then I needed to learn how to drive it!
I wanted to buy a decent fishing boat when DH was retiring but he wanted nothing to do with a fishing boat. So, I bought myself a new, bright red, 750 cc Ural Tourist motorcycle ---- with a side car. Great cycle for hauling groceries or grandkids!
I would have to get a Bigger one. My wife is like her Dad says I ride way too fast.
I keep saying I want Wrangler Jeep, I like riding with no Top or Doors, scares the something out of my wife and she says it is too cold. In truth Common sense says, 3/4 Ton Pickup, 4WD and Large Engine.

Off-road 4-wheeling has been a big part of my family for years. My son's first "truck" was a 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser fj55. I drove a 1971 fj40 and my wife wheeled in a 1991 fj80. Sadly most of the trails in our area have been closed. The 55 is on blocks in the yard I gave the 40 to my son who now is 35 and has two children of his own and the 80 is used on the homestead. Here is me and the 40 about 20 years ago crossing a beaver pond in the "Smokies". My son had just crossed it and stopped to take this picture.

I've done most of the hard-core trails at Moab and Tellico, and a number of trails in CO as well.
I have been out of the hard-core stuff for about 15 years (ever since I sold my built Land Cruiser to fund necessities), but would love to get back into it some day.

Can't wait to get out riding, but mother nature has other plans. 27 degrees and a couple of inches of fresh snow on the ground this morning
