So this will be year 2 of breeding our Nubians. Had 2 does that gave us twins each. Kept the one doeling and one wethered boy, sold two as wethers. Lost our Eleanor mid Spring (still makes me cry). Katherine will be bred again as will our born here doeling-Coco Chanel who is already 85+ pounds at 7 months. I ran fecals on everybody and they're all clean and good to go. Next up will be blood draws and then breeding with a plan for January kidding. Already have requests for kids for next year from the 4H kids that bought our boys last year.
How about you - what's your breeding plan look like this year?

I'm increasing our herd of Saanens. I have 3 does and one buckling. The buckling is half Saanen and half nubian. And I have one Saanen that actually has a face like an Alpine. I don't have papers on any of them. Today I noticed that they just might be coming into season. The male was pretty busy checking out the girls when they were urinating and it looked like the Alpine girl had some urine color on the back of her haunch. They are all just a week shy of 7 months. I'll send in fecals this week. But everyone looks to be in great condition as far as visual checks go. I need to do some hoof trimming.
I'm looking forward to making goat cheese for a change. I run dairy cows year round.
I have a couple of Nubians and Nubian/Saanen crosses that I've been mostly using for brush clearing. I'm on the fence about keeping them or not. The Nubians and I aren't a good match in personalities. I need to decide if I'm going to breed them and then sell them in milk or if I just want to keep them to clear brush and not breed them at all.
That's the extent of my plans to this point.

Breeding 150 Katahdin ewes around the first week of Oct for a March lambing season, All are registered stock and we will use 6 different breeding pens and all ear tags have to be logged in so we know which ewe was bred to which ram (6) total, takes a full day to sort and pick who goes with who (thud). We don't bred anything that isn't 1 1/2 years of age here. CDT will be given at time of sorting and a look see on each one to make sure they don't need anything extra
