If I kill poison ivy with Roundup will the plant oil, urushiol, dissipate or will it remain in the leaves and stems after the plant dies? Has anyone killed poison ivy this way? How long before I can pull it up to dispose of it after I spray?
I think I have lots of it growing here...

The oils will remain for a long time.
I'd wear long sleeves and some cheap rubber gloves that you can dispose of once it's removed.
I'd remove it while it's alive, and just treat the stumps with Roundup to prevent regrowth

I had the worst case of poison ivy I have ever heard of, when I was a kid. I have never seen anybody with a case as bad as what I had - and I'm a nurse! My own family wouldn't have been able to recognize me. It was thick, all over my face. My nose was full of it, my eyelids were covered with it so bad that my eyes were swollen shut. My earlobes were an inch thick. There wasn't one centimeter of my entire body that wasn't covered in it. We think it must have been in the burn barrel, and I was running through the smoke. So...whatever you do, don't burn it!

The best way I have found to deal with it is to just cut it low to the ground and treat the "stump" with tordon. You can get it at TSC and it's only $13 a quart. And a quart goes a long way.Roundup will kill it but it'll take more than one application. If you insist on spraying it I would look into brush killer "a" or "b".

The oil lasts a really long time. Round-up....takes more than one application.

I get it growing on trees here in the woods. BIG hairy vines! I didn't know what it was until I looked up one day! OMG! Took over the whole canopy and killed off a tree. So far it hasn't affected me, knock on wood.
For the big stuff, I use gloves, pop it at the shoulder level, then pull as much of the root out as possible. Just let it lay to dry. Small stuff, forget it. So much of it here all over the woods, it's impossible to control. Vinegar can kill a lot of stuff. Haven't tried it on PI tho.

2-4-D works to kill it as well- I do remember having to put on a couple of applications but is worth it. It can get on your pets or livestock fur and pass on as well. Watch out!!
