Our disabled chicken has one leg that doesn't work right...our chickens are PETS. A couple nails on her bad leg are really long b/c she doesn't use that leg correctly...she walks funny. We are trying to decide if we should trim those nails?

dw, I sure wish I had an answer for you as I have a hen that has a couple of LONG spirally nails as well. Fortunately she doesn't have any mobility issues as of yet. Mine are pets, too. Sweetie is the one with the problem - Have had her since 2011! Looking forward to reading some replies on this one...

Yes, yes you can and I have done it to my DD's Silkies, just like a dog toenail if your nervous take a little then a little more ect ect....Silkies with the feathered feet always needed trimming

I trim my bantams nails as needed. They don't free range like the big breeds do. Use nail trimmers for cats.
Just make sure you have some blood stop powder around.
