mods-n-hacks.gadgethacks.com/how-to/make-super-cheap-one-way-check-valve-0147955/Nice idea, nowhere in his article on above site or where same person posted youtube video does he state size of o-ring. Well since the above site wouldnt let me sign up, I will just post here for anybody that cares. This check valve is a useful and very inexpensive thing to make. You need a #312 o-ring. Its one inch OD and 5/8inch ID. I would suggest a food grade silicone version, but sure any #312 o-ring would work. Some guy on youtube comments suggested the rubber kind of garden hose connection gasket (not the hard plastic kind), but garden hose gasket is flat, so not sure if it would seal as well. Also the 3/4 inch acrylic balls are hard to find. You can buy them in bulk on amazon, but cheaper to buy the chromed 3/4inch steel ball bearings on ebay. Suppose they will eventually rust where the acrylic wont. But the weight helps seal, especially if check valve mounted vertical. It is quite annoying to be forced to create an account just to make a one time brief post with useful info, but suppose it discourages the idiots just wanting to disrupt things and post spam or rude comments. Even more annoying when the signup doesnt work properly. Could be it only works in IE browser or something??? Havent run into that for long time.
