Always put plenty of garlic in it and even if it is a little loose, you can call it aioli.

Throw an egg in the blender, add a clove of garlic, a bit of salt, a bit of sugar. Then add alternately a little bit at a time, 1 cup oil and the juice of 1 lemon. (Can be any ratio of olive oil to plain veggie oil). It will thicken up suddenly, and then just adjust the salt & sugar to taste for the tang you prefer. Voila!

I will try it again, this time with my food processor or blender. The instructions I tried before was for hand-mixing, and it just wasn't great. DH says it tasted like wet feet.

It's a mined mineral that's porous. The "health"stuff people actually ingest is spendy powder in tiny packages but it's also used as an alternative in swimming pool filters and can be bought in 25 or 50 lb bags and it's aquarium gravel size. I don't remember where I first heard it deoderized and was animal safe but it worked Great in my coop run.(Oh it's on a chicken forum-you can google it's poultry uses) I had poopy straw over ground at first and it Stunk unless I mucked several times a year. I learned quick my house was downwind of my coop too often! First I found out that sand works well to help keep down stink, and it does, but adding zeolite with sand at the ground level Really worked for me. It doesn't take a lot ...but I only have 3 hens I can't free range with a 4x8 ft. run. I pour and spread thin then dump a bag of sand over it.

Making homemade mayo is why I specifically bought a hand blender. It makes awesome mayo. Put the ingredients except oil into the little container, set the hand blender in, add the oil on top, press the button, move the blender up and down in the container - viola instant mayo. Mayo is made faster than the time it takes to put the ingredients into the container

No, I wish! I stumbled across a forum today that I really could have gone the rest of my life w/o knowing about. It wasn't dirty or porn or anything, it's just the way some people think, well............I need a shower. Some people are mean! I had to give up a prepper forum for that reason. Darn there was so much great info and lots of daily new stuff but....like you said.....SO mean. I couldn't avoid threads where intolerant people jumped all over those a "little" different. I mean, heck, they were Preppers but got stomped on in Unrelated threads for politics or Whatever. I got irritated far too often and then realized I was getting infected! Found "that other" forum most of us inhabited but This one is The Best of all! It's soooooo nice to be Here! (huggsss to Wendy and Melissa!!!! and all the members) -hobby-

I have a hard time finding shorts that are long enough for me and don't have a lot of doo-dads attached to them! I'm going to have to get a pattern and make my own. Can't you just cut off some long pants? I don't mind my jeans being kind of close to my thighs but I like my shorts looser. That may be TMI!

So, not really something I learned today, but over the course of the last week. There are some people who are completely out of touch with reality and their place in it. We have been working with a client who has such a disconnect between his immediate plans and his current capabilities that it is bazaar. Anyone who tries to even gently suggest that he do things differently, he interprets as making a personal attack.
I will be so glad when the project is done so I don't have to deal with this minefield any more.

TIL that you can peel the bark of the suckers from root stock and put potting soil around the peeled parts and they will root. Thanks, Elk! Funny that I knew you could get more bushes by doing this, and I have airlayered houseplants, but didn't know I could make more apple trees this way. Doh!

TIL yet another way to make fire starters - filling rinsed out used Keurig pods with sawdust and spent melted candle wax. All items are things we have in overabundance. Dh felt so bad about tossing kcups after one use (although not bad enough to go back to making his coffee a different way). He's very excited about the latest fire starter experiment. And we have so many fires indoors and out, that we can always use fire starters.
Wow. Just reflecting on the fact that we used to actually buy premade fire starters...

Today I learned that Mel's Mix (of Square Foot Gardening fame) is fantastic! Moist, light, easy to work with, and the sides don't cave in when you dig a hole in it! I'm in love!!! Mel's Mix: 1 part compost, 1 part peat moss, 1 part vermiculite or perlite by volume Today I also learned how to get to the smilies when replying to a post!

Oh, thank you for your concern! I appreciate it so much! But we pop the wax/sawdust chunks out of the plastic before using them. Oops. I forgot to mention that part. Sorry! After re-reading my post I can see that it looks like I'm burning the plastic filled with sawdust and wax.

Ha! I don't know about famous. J. K. Rowling I am not. I've been waiting for you to mention the name of your book (books?) so I can look them up on kindle. Haha. I try not to divulge too much information all at once so that if nobody is interested, they don't have to hear "that annoying book lady" all the time. Plus, I don't want to come off as always trying to sell something. But since you asked.... My best selling / most positively received book so far is Adaline (no, not like the movie out right now) that came out in September of last year. It is a self published YA Sci-Fi about a boy who is raised by robots. Prior to Adaline, I also have a Contemporary Romance called A ge/Sex/Location: Love Is Just A Click Away that was picked up by Brighton Publishing in 2012. It is about a young woman who is addicted to pills and alcohol, who finally finds companionship in a chat room online. Then, in 2013 I started my self-publishing journey with a short novelette called A Giraffe in the Room. It is Medical Fiction, about a man with debilitating memory loss. He is caught somewhere between a dream and reality, and the story follows his internal journey through his memories of his family. As you can see, my writing spectrum is pretty broad. I am focusing on the Adaline series (book 2 is in the works) for now, but also have a Crime novel called S is for Serial coming out later this year under the name D.K. Greene. S is for Serial is about a man who is the son of one of the most prolific serial murderers in history, and his struggle with surviving the media, the hundreds of open cases and Witness Protection. I've linked to the books / D K Greene page above for you. Thank you so much for asking. I am very excited about how the books are growing. I've finally made enough money this month that I'll be able to pay a couple of bills to help the household, which is a HUGE accomplishment after so many years of writing novels for pennies.
