We would like to build our own rabbit cages but aren't finding a lot of suppliers for the wire. Anyone here know where we can buy it at? We have inquired at our local farm and garden places. One said they could get it but they don't know anything about the 'baby saver' wire. The other, larger, place really didn't want to fool with us when we were inquiring about it. I'm thinking someone here knows something so share it with me!

Any hardware store should have ½" hardware cloth. That's what we used for rabbit cages. Home Depot has it in 2', 3', and 4' by 25' rolls.

Some states forbid wire for rabbits. Check your state laws.

You're right about hardware cloth working in a pinch but we have had them get sores on their feet from being on it. There is rabbit baby saving wire that comes in rolls because we have bought it and built them before. I guess I've got to keep looking for it.

I bought rolls of wire from Amazon - pricing was good because I have a Prime membership - it's the shipping that's a killer!

Blame it on PETA and AR. Some states are requiring wooden floors.... that is the reason I said check your state.

I suspect that any state regulations would only apply to commercial operations rather than private. Just can't picture some official citing some kid with a wire-bottom cage.

Martin They'll shut down a lemonade stand like it was being serviced by Typhoid Mary.....nothing surprises me anymore with gooberment officials.

If you're still looking for rabbit cage materials, this outfit not far from us is the best source I've found. www.bassequipment.com/We've bought nearly all our equipment from them, waterers, feeders, wire, door latches, etc.
