Is there such a thing? I have an 8 month old pitbull that destroys every bed I put I her crate. I have sewn pillows up in pillow cases, shredded. The last time I sewed stuffing up in a pillow sham. It lasted a cpl weeks, put today she got mad because I had her in the crate when I was at home and shredded. I have bought 2 beds and destroyed. Any ideas? I don't want to spend a lot just to have it destroyed but I'm getting tired of going through pillow cases too! I want her to have something in there since she had to be in the crate when I'm at work. I was thinking about the burlap with cedar chips but wondering if she'll tear that up too. Ideas???

I'd buy some comforters &/or pillows from the thrift store until she learns not to shred. You could soak a pillow case in bitter apple, let it dry, stuff it with a thrift store pillow or comforter, then put it in her cage. If she doesn't like the taste, that might stop her. If that doesn't work, is there anything she doesn't like to eat? Pickles? Try pickle juice. I've used hot sauce mixed with toothpaste smeared on wood with horses that liked to chew on wood. It's really hard to correct a dog when you aren't there....Good luck.

Following. I have a lab/retriever pup that does the same thing. He's eaten 2 of those beds with the wood chips in them, several towels, a blanket, and a comforter. I finally just gave up and took everything out of his kennel.

We have the same problem here with one of our dogs, a shepherd/collie mix, who shreds any sleeping surface she has available (including, sadly, the couch, when we thought she was ok to be out of the crate). At one time, I had researched this, and there are "virtually indestructible" dog beds for this kind of problem, but they are very expensive. Try to look up K9 Ballistics if you're interested. For us, it was out of our budget.
So we did as jkhs did, and removed everything from Molly's crate. I feel kind of bad that she has to sleep on the bare floor of the crate, but even if we were buying blankets from the thrift store for her, between the mess, the expense, and the potential hazards to her health from accidentally ingesting something she's shredding, it seemed like the smartest thing at the time.

DD bought new cushions for her outdoor patio furniture. We have the old ones. I really like them as dog beds, so does our dog. He is not destructive, but I think these would hold up well. Other wise, I would just not have anything in the crate other than a real chew toy. Nyla bones seem to be pretty indestructible, I’d get a big one.

Stainless steel is about the only thing indestructible with a proven chewer! I second those that say no bed in the kennel. I have had several big vet bills in years past from bored dogs chewing. One for just laying there eating wood shavings!

I keep toys in there for her. Idk. I bought a new one for when she's outside the crate today. Beds are so expensive!! I can keep an eye on it and make sure it's ok as she is no where near getting the run if the house yet. I guess for now I will keep sewing up pillow cases but she's fast making a case got no bed in the crate at all! Thanks all!!

It'll be habit now, so leave her bedless for a while. whatever you put in she's going to try to destroy.

I agree with the no bedding in kennel group. Stop putting anything in it she can tear up! It won't kill her to sleep in the crate without a blanket or pillow, and you will be a lot less frustrated about it.

Our new pup is a chewer and actually prefers to sleep on the plastic crate bottom with everything on top, go figure. I gave him a washcloth and he loves to chew that also.
I wouldn't worry about him sleeping on the crate bottom panel.

I don't think there is such a thing. My golden destroys everything we get him. It's more because he grabs it with his teeth to move it around, makes little puncture holes, then goes on the treasure hunt to see what's in there.
