I'm just wondering what that vaccination rate is among participants here.

countrymom22, did your husband get Covid as you did? So has he been tested for antibodies? You were so sick, you decided to get the vaccine, which is what I would have done. Maybe your husband was tested & has antibodies??? Or is he just against the vaccine?

We were all tested positive for Covid but not tested for anti bodies. He was barely sick at all, while mine hung on for 3 weeks. I got the vaccine because I'm caring for my Mom and Aunt, who both have breathing issues and probably wouldn't survive a bout of Covid, no matter how mild. Hubby doesn't believe the info we've been given and is worried about side effects. I did have some pretty serious reactions to the vaccines, probably because I had had the virus. The nurse and doctor at the vaccine clinic told me it would probably be like that, so at least I was warned.
But he is also against the government telling us what to do. Give him the info and let him make his own decision. I have to say my MIL hasn't gotten vaccinated either. Many of the people we know haven't. Guess everyone just has to decide for themselves. While I agree with him about being forced to take it, I made my own decision and so have to respect his. Even if it does make me a little crazy!

I am vaccinated because our daughter lives in the US and we in Canada and I needed it to be able to eventually cross the border.
However I feel that I may have Covid before the pandemic became battle stations. But since no one tests for antibodies there will be no truth tell. My friend has had it and the medical community keeps pushing her to be vaccinated at the same time refusing to test for antibodies..never seen the medical community so head in the sand as now.
My husband was in the first wave of vaccination due to being an essential worker. Daughter not far behind as she works in the schools with at risk children.
Both had Pfizer with little reaction so I would only take that vaccine. The free clinics get tired of me because I would not accept any other..lol..would walk out because their psychological games don't work on me

Attempting to get the third shot, but for some reason that opportunity has disappeared. Made a half dozen calls today and had no luck. The first two were at a hospital thirty miles away, they said they were not giving shots anymore. Looks like a slim chance at Safeway next week. Maybe it was in part because of the holiday weekend. At a loss of what is going on.

Blue states tend to have denser populations. Denser populations are just easier places to transmit disease.

I've been trying all week too, but can't find a 3rd booster shot place...no CVS or Riteaide are giving the shot now. I don't get it? When I booked my booster appointment (at Walgreens), I had a choice of a couple of appointments the next day, or any appointment time I wanted between 9:30 and 5:00 (for a number of days ) one week later. Not the next week, the week after that. My son said he could have booked on the next day as well - it was a Saturday (which he didn't want) or have his choice of times a week later - again, not the following week, but the week after that. Walgreens again, but a totally different part of the state. When we were waiting for our boosters, several people came up and asked if they could get a flu shot or Covid booster and were told that they had to make an appointment - they absolutely were not doing walk ins. When we got our flu shots the prior month, we were the only ones who had appointments - the rest were all walk ins. I don't know if it's due to a staffing shortage or that the pharmacy was getting slammed with walk ins, but appointments are necessary at that Walgreens. Of course, you said you we're trying to make an appointment, right? That's different. Ddil was able to schedule her booster for the day the grandkids are getting their second covid vaccine - she said she didn't have any trouble getting an appointment. Again, suburban Milwaukee area, same as ds. I'm going to have to ask my friends up here in the Eagle River area if they had any issues getting an appointment. Regardless, I hope you and anyone else who wants the booster are able to get one - soon!

Those of you who have /are about to get a booster, are you going for the same brand you got initially or a different brand?

Those of you who have /are about to get a booster, are you going for the same brand you got initially or a different brand? My husband and I had the Moderna vaccine, and our boosters were Moderna as well. When we made our appointments online, we were asked which vaccine we'd originally gotten but weren't offered a choice for the booster. Oddly (maybe), I don't know anyone up here who got the Pfizer vaccine originally - no matter where they were vaxxed in this area, it was Moderna. Your question did trigger a memory of something else my son said - that he wouldn't have had to wait an entire week to get an appointment for the booster if he wanted Pfizer, but he chose to stick with Moderna, since that was what his first shots were. Ddil had the Pfizer vaccines originally, and will be getting the Pfizer booster this week. So long answer short (long?), our immediate family is all getting boosted with the same brands as our original vaccines.

Sounds like it was easy to schedule for you Sue & others. I tried again both the local CVS & Riteaide, but there’s no on line set up to make an appointment. I called both places today & couldn’t get an answer. No one picked up the “ vaccine phone #” it just kept ringing.
I’m going to stop in tomorrow at both places in person and see how it goes. I do want the same Pfizer that were the first two vaccines.
Mask mandate started again today in New York, because of the new omnicron variant…God help us🙌 I haven’t stopped wearing my mask yet when I’m out, so things didn’t change for me in that regard.
Mentally I’m fatigued with this virus😏

I was in Walmart at the pharmacy today and someone walked up and asked about vaccine appointments. They were told by appointment only and that they didn't have any appointments for at least another week. Maybe the manufacturers are only shipping bi-weekly now? Can't think of any other reason why.
Son and I got the Moderna for the first 2. Haven't decided about the booster yet as they were saying on the news that there may be a new booster available in about 90 days that should work on the Omicron variant, so I may wait for that one. I know many people who got the initial vaccine but don't intend to get the booster because of how bad their side effects were.
If we get it, we will stick with the Moderna.
Hubby and my MIL still haven't been vaccinated and don't intend to be.

My husband stopped at Walmart yesterday to pick up a new bird feeder. A sign on the door said no appointment was needed for the vaccine.
I am not vaccinated. Tom has immunity from having Covid. My son got vaccinated and developed central serous retinopathy in his left eye from the shot; however, this is not the first time he has had this. He got CSR from an allergy (steroid) shot three years ago. They thought it was the steroid factor of the shot plus using Flonase. Apparently, there is a chemical ingredient factor that is making him develop CSR the doc is thinking. So far this time, it is not going away. Thank God it is just affecting one eye. He is to have no more vaccines, shots, etc.

I'm so sorry that your son is having such a serious side effect vickilynn. That is only one of the reasons that my hubby won't get vaccinated. He just doesn't feel that we have enough long term data to support the vaccine as being safe. Some are developing heart issues too, and some people's side effects are pretty bad. For me, the vaccine just doesn't do enough. You can still get sick, although supposedly not as bad. And you can still transmit the virus even if you don't have symptoms. So I'm just not sure that it really does what they told us it would. We had Covid and some of us were vaccinated. I don't know if we will get the booster or not, but I know that if I had school age kids they would not be getting vaccinated, but that is just my opinion. Everyone has to do whatever they are comfortable with. I hope your son's CSR goes away.

I booked an appointment last night and get my booster today at noon at Walgreens. I’m surprised I got in that quickly especially as they are short staffed but it went as planned. Pfizer all the way.

By appointment, was able to get the booster shot this after noon, at Safeway. Did notice when the needle was stuck in my arm, which did not feel for the 1st or 2nd shots.
About an hour after the shot, noticed a slight head ache, lasted a couple of hours. At about four hours, arm was quite sore. Will see what the rest of the evening brings.
Glad it’s over, only hope it does some good.

As with the first two shots, I had the sore arm with the booster (no big surprise, even the flu shot makes my arm really sore for a day). It was more like the first shot though, when my arm was only sore for the first day. Second shot the soreness lasted three days, with the booster the soreness was completely gone the next day. Only side effect I've ever gotten was a sore arm.
My husband had his usual (non)side effect: "If I push hard on the injection site, it hurts." He's fun that way.

Greece imposes monthly fines on the over-60s who refuse a Covid vaccine. Even though the vaccinated "can transmit the virus as high as unvaccinated, at least in the first few days of the breakthrough case."
Coming soon to a country near you.

I finally got through to a local CVS, about 20 minutes away. Their site wouldn’t work for me! I got to the part which asked which shot the first two were…then when finishing up it said they would give me the Moderna. I don’t want that one, as I had the Pfizer for the first & second vaccine…so I canceled that appointment before it was completed.
I called my sister because she had got a telephone number from her SIL yesterday that wasn’t listed on CVS’s site. I could barely understand the lady and thought for sure she would mess up the appointment somehow, but she texted me the time, that it was the Pfizer booster and the address. So I go on 12/12 …..they didn’t make it easy.

I've got an appt in two weeks for a Moderna booster. So I'm going Moderna all the way. If there is a walk-in opportunity before that in the city when I happen to be going there, I might get one sooner. I'm also thinking to have them jab me in the other shoulder, instead of the same shoulder that I got the previous two shots in. Maybe I can minimize the sore arm effect that way. May not make a difference.
My godson's girlfriend's mother died of covid last week. She had had a bad stroke about 6mos ago. Trying to deal with a stroke patient during covid times is quite a challenge. She was in a skilled nursing facility when she caught covid and died. I don't know if she was vaccinated.
