I had the vaccine as I help care for my elderly mom and aunt who both have COPD and Emphsyma(?). So I did it to make them more comfortable with asking me for help. I had already had Covid before the vaccines were available. My whole family had it. My son and DIL have since been vaccinated and gotten covid again, along with half of DIL's family, who we were with for Christmas, but I didn't get it again. Hubby and youngest son both ended up with a cold, but it might have been a mild case of covid. They weren't tested, so we'll never know.
After both shots I had symptoms, that were were serious enough to keep me from working for 2 days. Hubby is unvaccinated and has no intention of getting vaccinated. I think everyone has to make their own decision. But we shouldn't be turning on each other over it.

countrymom22, did they think your symptoms were from already having had covid? Your body might have already developed such an immune response to your infection that the shots brought out a powerful response that knocked you off your feet for a few days. Me I apparently have never had it, but my arm at 2nd and 3rd shots responded with 'we've seen this before' like it does some years with some flu shots. My younger much healthier kids- 2/3 probly/did (DD symptoms, DSIL test pos) have covid 2 years ago- had no problems with their full series of shots afterwards. My older; multiple health problems; so allergic takes benadryl every time with an antibiotic; friend reported to the ER and got steroids and benadryl after each of the first two shots so the doc (and me sort of) agree don't get a third one. Friend now got covid and didn't go to hospital for its direct effects on the lungs, but that week got a bad case of gall bladder infection the surgeon ascribes to the covid infection. I figure the vaccines did no good since the steroids probably neutralized any reaction the body was supposed to make to them. They didn't type the covid so no knowing if it was omicron or what. I wish we could trust the masks to protect us, and now with the omicron panic I am looking wistfully at all the pretty cloth masks I have made which apparently aren't good enough and hoping I'll be eligible for a 4th shot soon. And that it assures me I can quit worrying so much but I doubt that. I also, after my worries for my own and my family/friends' health, wish there was less "IN YOUR FACE SCR** YOU" between the two factions, that no one ever coughed on a stranger on purpose or beat someone up who wasn't wearing a mask (I'm in the get vaccinated / wear a mask faction so of course I doubt the latter- beat someone for not wearing a mask- has ever happened, and of course my silo of news feed wouldn't likely let me know if it has, and magnifies every unmasked rude person as if they are a million of them).

Yes jenn. When I went to get my first shot and they asked if I had had Covid before, they told me I would most likely have more severe symptoms because my immune system was already ready to fight another exposure. But I decided to get the vaccine anyway. The first shot was bad, but the second was even worse. Funny though, the only thing that didn't happen... my arm never got sore! Extreme fatigue, body aches, fever, joint pain and bad headache for 2-3 days. Bad enough to keep me in bed, which never happens! I'm the gal who was cleaning her hospital room 6 hours after having an emergency c-section, if that gives you an idea how hard it is for me to stay still! I received my first vaccine 5 months after I had covid, so maybe my anti body level was still really high and that was why I reacted so strongly. Don't really know. I'm debating on whether to get the booster. I held off this long because I was too busy working getting ready for my surgery, so I couldn't risk being laid up in bed for another 2-3 days. Funny thing was that the whole time I was in the hospital, they never asked me if I was vaccinated. Just asked if I had ever had covid. " These days, I really wish people could just be kinder to everyone about everything. Not just the vaxed/un vaxed stuff. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but why do we have to be so up in each other's faces? If you don't like what someone is saying or doing, walk away. Why engage and make things worse? People need to get a tougher skin and stop being so damn sensitive about every little thing! Just my opinion. I'll get off the soap box now!

countrymom22, if only that was possible. I've had to drive through protesters outside our local school system, ON A STATE HIGHWAY, all week, with them blocking the road and waving their signs in front of cars. They are protesting the mask mandate for the schools - which the schools have exactly ZERO control over. Disrupting traffic isn't just rude, it's dangerous! I just want to tell them to grow up and stop acting like spoiled brats! I'm a big fan of personal freedom, but I'm also a big fan of caring enough for others to want to do everything I can to keep them and myself safe. Since when is their personal freedom more important than my right to NOT catch a disease that could kill me? Don't I also matter? Sure, kids are less likely to be acutely ill if they catch Covid. But the little disease vectors are quite capable of passing the virus on to others who are more vulnerable. Who hasn't experienced catching a cold or flu the week after kids go back to school, share their germs and bring them home to the rest of the family. Although omicron numbers are falling nationwide, my area is still rife with new infections...this is not yet the time to remove masks. But, God forbid we should do anything that's been shown to work to decrease the rate of spread, whether it's vaxxing or masking with an N-95. 🙄 It becomes very hard to remain patient and quiet when the "other side" is screaming so loudly...like 2 yr olds throwing temper tantrums. Have we really reached the point where those who scream the loudest get their way, whether it makes medical sense or not?

2 friends died from the shot. One was forced to get the shot for hospital procedure, it killed him in 8 hours. One friend was crippled for life after getting it.

We had both initial shots and a booster as prescribed by the liberal government in power here...
I have read now they are allowing Ukraine and other refugees free access in or out of the country without any controls or concern about them being vaccinated or not... Supposedly...

Don't know of anybody who died from the vaccine, and even in a rural hospital you hear about such stuff. Have heard of several reactions, one of them causing permanent heart damage.

I don't know of anyone who has been hurt by the vaccine, let alone died. Although, I had had a problem with vaccines in the past I would not risk it.

I was called back to work early May. They must have forgotten I was one of the unwashed. Got the email the 1st day, no more testing or vaccine requirements. Yeah, now I don't have to burn energy dealing with that. Come to find out, for the 99% who consented to testing, it was the vaxed who tested positive most of the time. Go figure. And once you test positive, for 3 months afterwards you don't test because you could have a false positive. Anyway it was a logistic PITA for the state to keep track of, not to mention the costs of all the testing and paid time off for those who had to stay away from work. Over the winter everyone got it, including our unvaxed secretary. I did too, but I was in layoff. But there was more good news, the contract was amended to say they would not collect genetic information. I guess there was alot of pushback. I hope people are waking up. Anyway I did none of it, zip, zero, nada. I count my lucky stars, but I've always had the luck of the Gypsies. Overall the states flu cases are dropping after a spike from Omnicron. Do I believe it's over? I don't know, but keep your guard up, eat right, exercise, enjoy life. No stress.

I am 7 hours now into my 2 nd booster, 4 shots total now.. When the shot were first started my Dr. told me DO NOT pass one up...
So... Just a sore spot around the jab site about the size of a tea cup bottom.. My usual reaction is 2 days hot spot on the arm and 3 days sore to nothing.. Hope this time goes the same..

2022-06-14..... I am 7 hours now into my 2 nd booster, 4 shots total now..
2022-06-17.... Within 3 or so hours of being a full 3 days post booster now.. Only have a sore spot on my arm, maybe the size of a dime...
Makes me wonder... Did I just do better with it this time ?? Is it a bit weaker ?? Is my systems coping better or is it producing a level of protection ??
Facts, details, personal experience, thoughts ??

I didn’t get the 3rd booster and the worst one for me was the second injection. I just felt weak… Nothing terribly bad from any of them except the sore arm where the injection site was.
I guess the vaccine reacts differently with everyone TIM, just as Covid itself does.
Here we are in NY going up again in cases. It’s mostly the vaccinated, with much milder cases. Happy you had pretty much no reaction this time. I distinctly remember now that you mentioned this, when I got the second booster I said to my sister “ I think they injected me with water.”😄

My sister, BIL and brother have all been diagnosed with covid in the last 2 weeks. All are fully vaxed and boosted. This is the second time for my brother. All the usual symptoms, in various degrees. Cases are on the rise again in NJ, mostly in the vaccinated.
My aunt with severe breathing issues took 2 tests, one came out positive and one negative. Her doc said with her issues to play it safe and started her on Paxlovid. After 5 days on that she was so sick we called the squad on Wed. ER doc said they couldn't test her for covid because it would come up positive because of the meds. While taking the Paxlovid she was instructed by both the pharmacist and the nurse practitioner to not use her COPD inhaler. I'm not sure which ones, as she uses a number of them. While in the ER they determined that she did not have covid, but a severe case of pneumonia! But they couldn't admit her because they couldn't run a covid test, so they couldn't put her in the covid wing in case she didn't have covid, and she couldn't go in the regular wing in case she did! So they sent her home, where she can't even function, so I'm cancelling grooming appointments and staying with them to care for her.
Seems like you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. I know they are on the brink of giving the vaccine to very young kids. There is no way I would give this to a young child, who is still rapidly developing. They haven't had enough time to test for long term effects on kids, in my opinion.

I hope and expect my kids will be getting my grandson vaccinated when he is 6 months. Of course it's their choice and their pediatrician will guide them, with a few months experience on others before then. Right now we are testing folks coming out of town to see him before they visit him, and ourselves if we get any symptoms. However his parents get more exposure at their jobs and "life" than we do retired except for babysitting and a more sedate "life" than the kids live. DD2, grandson's aunt, got covid maybe through the vent system since her neighbor through the wall at school had it just before she did. She was testing negative luckily by the time she headed home to us/ started her summer job/ met her new nephew.
