Ah Mari, I have one of those babies that is now 4 months old and sitting in my lap. She was an abandoned kitten and daughter raised her along with two more. All are now in loving homes. Hope you enjoy your kitty.

I think it was around September 15 or so one of our stupid outdoor cats decided she was going to abandon her tiny kittens. This wee baby was barely crawling around all day out at one of the coops just hollering its little head off so I brought it in that evening and fed it milk through a syringe. It was way too young to even eat on it’s own. I bought some milk replacer for kittens the next day and mixed some up for it when I got home from town. It used to cry a bit and I felt so sorry for it! I did put it’s box on a heat pad and that has helped. She's so cute... now, instead of placing her IN the box - I have it on it's side and that is where she goes on her own to snooze with a little stuffed animal I have in there with her... It's a little stuffed bird and she enjoys wrestling with it - too cute... I weighed her a couple of days after she was in here - at that time - she only weighed around 5 ounces! I'm so thankful now that she has graduated to a grown up litter box - she had a tiny litter box up until about a week ago and had subsequently outgrown it. Oh my, I am so thankful I don't have to help her anymore to go potty... Oh, I just weighed her and she is at 1 pound 12 ounces... My husband did tell me how much he was impressed with my patience in regards to all it entails in regards to taking care of her - especially when I had to help her out with going to the bathroom. I guess I even surprised myself! (Never had human children) Still trying to figure out what to name her - I usually just call her "little baby" or "precious" when it is time for a bottle or some softened hard food. She does indeed come on the fly! I do indeed have such a soft spot for animals in need... ~Mari

Where was oggie when this happened? I see his fingerprints all over it. Do you really mean paw prints?!?! Yes, I think we should probably see if we can't track oggie and all of his movements in the last month or so! He is trouble as far as our feline friends are concerned for sure!

Our last two cats were I guess about 5 weeks when we found them abandoned in the attic. Luckily we have a dog that takes care of the toileting, doing all the licking to stimulate etc, I've found that the cats you bring up this way are the best cats, totally human cats. she'll be lovely!

Cuteness overload!! I LOVE cats. If somehow my spouse and my children didn't exist or disappear into thin air one day, I would totally be one of those cat ladies who has 20 cats. They are such pretty creatures. I love the way they sit or perch it's so graceful. How they hunch/arch their backs and rub against your legs. They constantly groom themselves and never smell or need to be bathed. We have one cat now and she even though she is going 3 years old now she is still so incredibly playful. She will do that prancing sideways thing with her back all hunched up as she hops into the room. It makes me laugh every time. That black kitten reminds me of my previous cat who was all black. He hated any male. Absolutely hated my dad when I was growing up. We adopted him when I was 12 or so from a pet shelter. He was a year or 2 old by when we did. After my sister and I moved out of our home my sister had him for a while. Apparently Snuffy (the black cat) would always climb on her bed and poop on her husband's side of the bed! One day he (sister's husband) told me how he backed his car out of his garage and almost hit Snuffy, but too bad he missed. I instantly offered to take the cat and we did. My spouse doesn't like cats, but out of his love for me, agreed to take the cat. Well, that cat LOVED my husband, and my husband loved that cat. I never understood how since that cat hated any guy and ran away from all men, and my spouse hated cats. But it was a magical thing to watch that cat come "wake-up" my husband every single morning. He would hop on my spouse's chest and purr while nuzzling his face. My husband would wake up and scratch the cat's head while the cat continued this for a good 15 minutes. Ah such fond memories you brought up for me Mari-in-IN. Here's a video of the Snuffy-husband-me love triangle. Here is a picture of the current reigning queen of this home- I really want to get a second kitten or cat as a companion for our cat now. I heard in Switzerland they passed a law that you can't adopt or own just one cat or dog because studies have shown just how important pet companions are for each other. My spouse is hesitant since this cat is the anti-Snuffy. She hisses at him when he walks by, but is super nice to me and tries to cuddle with me all the time lol! And he's the one who cuts up, weighs (we do the raw cat food diet), and feeds her all her meals.

You may have just naturally found her name - she is definitely Precious. How wonderful that you found her and took care of her so well. She is thriving and is just too cute (which was the name of one of our kitties years ago-Too Cute called TC).
I hope you can provide updates and more pictures.

Hey ya'll - jean , feather , Woodpecker , Skandi , countrymom22 ,@rachelmcmurtrie , mzgarden , mogal , Just now getting around to doing an update on Precious... She is growing like a little weed! I weighed her today and she is up to 3lbs 5ozs. When she is not sleeping she is running, jumping, playing with all of her toys and is all teeth and claws! But when she settles down and cuddles up on me it just warms the cockles of my heart - jeez oh pete - where did that come from? Well, anyhoo, she started to refuse the bottle but still likes her kitten milk replacer, which I mix up every morning and she laps it out of a little bowl. She is also on softened hard food as well. She is still residing out here in the sunroom by herself (well, I'm out here quite a bit - don't want ya'll to think she is always on her own!) but we are now doing some supervised play time with the other cats of the household. One of them is around 15 lbs so we are definitely hesitant at this time to totally integrate her into the "herd". Once she gets bigger it shouldn't be a problem. They all are pretty gentle with her but occasionally it can get just a tad out of hand and I don't want her to get hurt. Oh boy though, she has so much fun playing with them! And thank goodness our dog was raised with cats - even though there are times I'm just a tad nervous when Precious is on the tear around Reagan - her mom was a Black Mouth Cur and dad was a German Shepherd police dog. But, so far so good... Reagan really puts up with alot as far as all the cats are concerned - thank goodness... Yeah, this is pretty rich, occasionally I catch her nursing on one of her toes but here lately it is usually her tail! Quite amusing... Take care everyone! ~Mari

Awww Marianne she is so sweet! I just want to reach through my phone's screen, grab her, and keep her all to myself. There's something about kittens that's just so precious like your Precious. I can look away from a puppy, but from a kitten? It's much harder for me. I guess that's how one knows they're a cat person.

Boy, she sure triggers a cuddle response, doesn't she. You just want to pick her up and snuggle her. Thanks for the update.

Try putting Vaseline on her tail. She may or may not like it. Vaseline on the paws is one way to getting the hair balls moving. There is a special formula from the DVM but you really don’t want her to like it.....

She so fits her name! She is Precious! Before you know it she'll be completely integrated with the other animals, don't worry. And something tells me she can hold her own! Thanks for the pics and update!

Hi jean , feather , Woodpecker , Skandi , countrymom22 ,@rachelmcmurtrie , mzgarden , mogal , dustawaits !!! Precious had her first vet visit yesterday... She is now tipping the scales at 5.6lbs. Before her exam the vet warned us that often bottle fed babies really act up when they are being examined. We were all pleasantly surprised that she did not. She was so good! She didn't even flinch when she got vaccinated. She was not happy however when they drew blood but she soon got over it. She is now spending more time unsupervised with all of the other cats. They are all so gentle with her. It is so sweet and fun to watch how they "fight" with her. She still resides in the sunroom most of the time though. It's so cute how she will meow/bang on the doors to be let out/in. I snapped this tonight of her spending some quality time with "Daddy"... You've come a long way baby!! As you can see - she's still nursing on that tail! The vet said it's very common for kittens such as her to "nurse" on inanimate objects... However, this was the first time he had heard of "tail nursing" - Ha! ~Mari

She's awful cute and I think she knows it lol and soon may be queen of the cat-sle. My cats are going on 12 and 16 so it has been a long time since I had kitten, much less a young cat. I don't expect the 16 year old to be around this time next year but she is a tough cat, been through a lot. So it wouldn't surprise me if proves me wrong. If that day comes, I don't think the 12 year old would deal well with a new addition to the house - I think her nose would get truly get out of joint.

Tonight my husband and Precious were enjoying some quality time together and I thought about this thread I had started in regards to her after I brought her in. I will never forget how incredibly tiny she was - 5 ounces!! Now - Aye Carumba - she is about 12 pounds - and she is not "fat". She takes after her dad - "Black Tom" - who is quite large indeed. Oh my, I must admit, on occasion she still nurses on that tail. The nice thing is - probably due to her having such short hair - she never coughs up furballs - thank goodness. And, I don't know if it is because I kept her from interacting with the other cats until she was a juvenile - but she has trouble relating with them - so she tends to spend most of her time out here in the sunroom. Our farmer friend likes to joke around saying that since she was "home-schooled" by me - that's the problem as far as her relating to her peers. He is a nut indeed! Precious and Daddy - I took this a couple of months ago. I should endeavor to get some better pics of her... She is indeed my "Precious darlin'" - and she knows it. ~Mari
