As I said, if it is relevant, then talk about it. But no endless debating about candidates/name-calling etc...

Last I knew everyone has a choice on what threads they read. I know I dont read all the threads that are posted as all dont interest me. As a option if you are looking for a fight, go look in the mirror and let us know who wins.

Hi @chantrie (plowhand). I think you'll like it here. Friendly, helpful ... It is the opposite of fallen off - gotten back on? Taken off? Welcome

I am so happy to see you here. I wasn't part of the blow up over there but I am so happy to be here instead of there.

And here I thought that I was the only one getting those emails...
I received the "newsletter" for June on the 13th of June and then just the other day, July 13th, I received this email (the thirteenth of every month, no matter what day it falls on, seems to be bad luck)...
Yes, I have slightly edited a thing or two in the above quote, but it was done in an effort to maintain my vow to never utter the in-question forum's true name. I have gotten better about it lately, though. Nowadays, I just say "the other forum". I have not yet closed my account at the other forum, mostly as a means of being able to go back to it and defend myself if it were ever necessary. I have heard through the grapevine, though, that the wheels are falling off the cart over there. I have no idea and could not care less. But, you would think that they might have been a little more careful with whom they contact in an effort to cajole them back to the forum. I was probably one of the more vocal critics of what CMG was doing and their actions after it was all made public (I have a really big aversion to someone blowing smoke up my skirt).
On the other hand, maybe I should go back and chat up my buddy, Hyaat!!! Swap homesteading stories, teach hunting ethics, give gardening advice.

Oh, dear. . . . it looks like despite being banned after requesting to have my account removed, and repeatedly unsubbing from their newsletter, and contacting the company to request to be removed, I'm still receiving the newsletter. Anyone able to share an email address for anyone in admin over at the place-that-shall-not-be-named? Or is it time to start contacting their "advertising partners" in hopes of acquiring contact info?

I just received the newsletter again from the other place...
It shows a brief bit content from some seemingly nice threads. I am pretty sure that these enticing threads were not plucked from the GC nor the Politics forum. I wonder why...

I've not received any invites. . .visited a bit yesterday and it seems the inmates are running the asylum. I like the tone here much better. Not so much drama if one mentions their religion or gives a conservative opinion. There seems to be a little more respect for others on this forum.

I believe you can opt out of the newsletter by clicking a link in the newsletter itself. Probably in small print near the bottom.
edited to add: This is at the very bottom of the newsletter-

It's not just the GC and Politics forums. They all seem to be getting nasty. There is still a lot of good information, but I'm getting tired of wading through the garbage to get the valuable advice. I'm close to leaving there for good. For instance, I have a rabbit situation that I'll probably post over here. The other rabbit forum is more active/has more breeders, but I know I'll get ripped to shreds. I got pounced on (not by the OP) for asking someone if their rabbit's fur felt like velvet - because it obviously *wasn't* a Rex rabbit.

I've tried that link several times now, but the newsletters just keep arriving. It would be an easy fix--if I had an account I could access, or if CMG-Shannon had actually done what was requested when I tried to close my account. In the future, I think I'll make up a standard fictitious address for boards I plan to leave. That way they can spam away, but I'll never see it!

I just got the HT newsletter email and clicked on the unsubscribe link - yet again. Marked it as "spam" so I don't have to add it to my "safe list" LOL.

I have clicked on the "unsubscribe" button every time also and I still receive their garbage.
The "unsubscribe" button obviously does not have any real function other than to make us believe that we have some kind of control, which is pure fiction.
Kinda like the account deletion process on Facebook. I can not count how many times that I have tried to delete my Facebook account and it is still there.

I still check HT for PMs often enough that I don't get the e-mails, although I do get them from Prepared Society (another CMG holding, I found out). I occasionally read on HT, but most of the time when I do, I feel like it was a waste of my time. The tone there has changed. I miss some of the folks that didn't make the switch, but I can always PM them to catch up, or e-mail some of them, too.

It looks like they bought dairygoatinfo.com too. Now I can't trust the info on there any longer either [shakes head in disgust]. I got the newsletter from HT a week or so ago and clicked in out of curiosity. I answered the question of a poster who was getting snarked all over in the Goats forum. I recommended she come here
