And who hasn't done that before Tallpines, I sure have. No worries. I thought you might be testing my powers of ESP or something, LOL.

krisinmi, thanks for leading this. dw, congratulations! @halfpint, krisinmi, motdaugrnds,@kiwifarmgal, wvterri, manygoatsnmore, Tallpines, dw, Melissa, calicokatie1, As a never before quilter, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone's encouragement and enthusiasm. If you experienced folks hadn't been so enthusiastic and encouraging, I probably would have let this pass me by. You made it seem like something I wanted to join in and I'm glad I did. Can't wait to see how it comes out.

Congratulations DW. This adventure was such fun and I'm real curious as to what you will do with the blocks. Will you share that with us when you can please? (I've never quilted before and I'ld really like to see what can be done with so many diversified blocks.) As for a color theme for your 4 yards of material, I'm partial to fall and enjoy warm colors with a design that lends itself to a multitude of ideas. I suspect it will be fun for you to choose the fabric; so enjoy. (Krisinmi, how soon will we be able to see what DW has chosen for the next quilt?)
Thanks Krisinmi for setting this up for us. It was great fun and I'm looking forward to working on another block. (Hopefully my blocks will improve over time.)
Goodness I'm so anxious to see what everyone did; so will be impatiently waiting for pics.

Since summer is so busy for many of us, I was thinking of having the next quilt start around the time school starts back up again. So, early September-ish? Which would make perfect timing for a fall-like fabric, if that is what dw would like to purchase. But, of course, part of the fun of being the winner is that you get to pick absolutely any pattern or color scheme your heart desires. So, she'll just have to surprise us.

Well since I think DW said she's chosen a fall-type fabric, you can send mine any time you like - we're right in the season for it now, LOL

OH WOW is all I can say!!!!! Received my squares today...original plan, I thought sashing but maybe not...I could make 3 more and have it 5 x 5 squares. This will be difficult to ignore as I'm currently in the middle of 3 quilts and have 2 at the long arm quilter. I am hand quilting one for my sis 70th b'day, too. LOVE them all. Dorothy

They were TOO fun and used them all. I made 3 more squares today and have them laid out on my bed...now I need to # my rows so I can work on them later. Sunday is my no work day so I usually sew, craft or read. Guess it's bee time.

krisinmi , When will the rest of us get to see the photos? Hopefully in the next day or two I will have enough time to mess around with getting the photos posted. I wish I could download them directly here, rather than having to remember how to navigate my rarely used account at the online photo sites.

Sorry, can you just post them on facebook and then post them here? Or if you do post them on facebook, I can load them here for you.

Congrats, Dorothy! I have to admit, I forgot all about it with everything going on here, so forgot to see who won, etc. I can't even remember what I did, I was so stressed at that time!

Dw would probably have to post the names if she kept track of them since Kris has sent them on to her now!

Wow, some impressive blocks, folks. I don't think I'll ever be up to the level of some of you, but I did enjoy doing it. My block is just above Tallpines in the third photo.

Dw would probably have to post the names if she kept track of them since Kris has sent them on to her now! Yes, dw will have to identify which block came from whom. Way too many for me to remember! Mine is the top left in the first photo, I do know that

Sorry, I took all the names off as I laid them all out plus my 3 new additional ones...I am hoping to get to sew this weekend as it looks like it will be raining here. BUT this did remind me of one I have from way....back...a swap on the other, our names are on them. I know Jan & Melissa are on those. If I can figure out how to post pics when I get this done, I thought I'd show that one, too. I make labels on the computer & if we can do the names, I could make a label...guess I should have thought of that first!! Dorothy

It's raining...I can play and just went thru the trash in the sewing room. I numbered each row, then A. B. Everyone could fill in and I could make a label for my quilt. 1. A KrisinMI B. lilredrocker 2. A. Billie B. halfpint (Dawn) 3.A. MollyMcKee (Jill) B. Pauline 4.A & B Calico Katie 5. A. Maura B. Jan 6. A. Homesteader B. Tallpines 7. A & B Melissa 8.A. Kiwi Farmgal B. Pinfeather (Debi) 9. A & B wvterri 10. A & B DW (Dorothy) 11. A. Mzgarden B. motdaugrnds
I'm guessing on some...so you might need to correct.

What a lovely set of blocks everyone made. Well done us. Mine's in the 4th picture, bottom left - the focus fabric star on a white background with the yellow and orange pinwheel in the middle and focus fabric corners. Can't wait to see the finished quilt, either. And start on the next project....

Yes, mine are on row 4, the Checkerboard Heart and Mariner's Compass. I'm staying with my daughter for a few months and have only a few of my quilting books and fabrics with me. The only 12" Compass pattern I could find uses a couple of techniques I didn't care for, mainly appliqueing the Compass down on the background square. I had a lot of trouble getting the edges turned under and it looks pretty rough but I figured it would look okay from a galloping horse with one eye shut. dw, I left the block at 13" because I thought you'd want to take a bigger seam on that one.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but the fabric is printed with bluebonnets and Indian paint brush. These are common spring wild flowers in Texas and the bluebonnet is the Texas state flower. That may have something to do with all the star blocks people made. (For the Kiwi in our group, Texas is called the Lone Star state as its state flag has a star on it)
